BY THE NUMBERS: LOOKING BACK AT THE WEEK IN WRESTLING ON TELEVISION FROM WWE, TNA, AND ROH

By Richard Trionfo on 2015-08-25 05:44:22
For the first time since NXT debuted on the WWE Network, we had a week with an episode of NXT and a Takeover special. Because the presence of wrestling on NXT was negligible, it did not help us get an increase over last week’s total. A normal week of NXT would have given us an increase over last week, but instead we had a 5 minute drop from last week to give us 166 minutes of wrestling last week.

Raw won the week but fell below the forty minute level for the first time in nine weeks and had 39 minutes of wrestling, down five minutes from last week. Impact almost caught Raw but still finished in second one more time with 37 minutes, up 6 minutes from last week. Smackdown finished in third place with 27 minutes of wrestling, up one minute from last week.

Ring of Honor stayed at 24 minutes for the second consecutive week and finished in fourth place. Main Event finished in fifth place with 20 minutes of wrestling, up five minutes from last week. Main Event returned to the 20 minute level after two weeks in the teens. Superstars did something that they normally do on weeks with only six shows. NXT finished in last place with only 9 minutes of wrestling, down twelve minutes from last week.

With two one minute matches this week, NXT has had a total of seven one minute matches over the last five weeks. There have been a total of eleven one minute matches during that five week period.

All three companies were represented this week in the ten minute column with the two hour shows from WWE joining Impact and Ring of Honor on the list this week.

With Raw passing 2,000 matches in the last month, it is time for another millennium moment for matches and this week’s honoree is NXT who hit 1,000 matches during the Samoa Joe versus Steve Cutler match. Superstars is three quarters of the way there with 750 matches so we are only a little more than two years from hitting 1,000 matches for them.

Main Event passed 3,100 minutes of wrestling this week. Main Event also had its 150th episode with qualifying matches.

This week also saw the latest NXT Takeover Special from Brooklyn, New York. There were 6 matches on the show with a total of 74 minutes of wrestling.

The times for the individual matches on Takeover were:
Jushin Liger versus Tyler Breeze: 9 Minutes
Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy versus Aiden English and Simon Gotch: 10 Minutes
Apollo Crews versus Tye Dillinger: 5 Minutes
Samoa Joe versus Baron Corbin: 10 Minutes
Sasha Banks versus Bayley: 18 Minutes
