7/3 NJPW ROAD TO DOMINION IN TOKYO. JAPAN REPORT INCLUDING SURPRISING RETURN

Results from NJPW Road to Dominion in Korakuen Halll

Kyle O'Reilly & Bobby Fish (ReDRagon) defeated Sho Tanaka & Yohei Komatsu. This was an awesome tag match to start the show. Komatsu & Tanaka were incredible here together and did some nice tag stuff that you don't normally see from them such as a powerbomb from Tanaka as Komatsu came off the top with a somersault senton. After several minutes of fantastic back and forth, O'Reilly pinned Tanaka after Chasing The Dragon.

Tiger Mask IV, Jushin Thunder Liger & Yuji Nagata defeated Mascara Dorada, Ryusuke Taguchi & Manabu Nakanishi. This was fun, with the focus being on the juniors. Dorada was the standout of the match and was in the ring for a large part of it. Taguchi was back to doing his complete silliness. Tiger Mask scored the win over Dorada with a crucifix style pin. Dorada is absolutely sensational time and time again. I really want to see him as more than someone that gets pinned in multi man tag matches.

Tama Tonga, Bad Luck Fale & Cody Hall (Bullet Club) defeated Jay White, Hiroyoshi Tenzan & Satoshi Kojima. This was a decent tag match. Jay White was impressive again looking great against Fale & Tonga. Tonga got the win over White with a double arm DDT. It's always good to see Tonga pick up a win and be more than the Bullet Club jobber, because he has more to offer.

Yujiro Takahashi & Kenny Omega (Bullet Club) defeated Captain New Japan & KUSHIDA Whenever Omega & KUSHIDA were in the ring together it was awesome. Their match on Sunday has the makings of being something incredible. Other than that it was pretty forgettable. Takahashi pinned Captain after Tokyo Pimps.

THEN things got interesting. After the match as KUSHIDA & Omega were staring each other down, Ricochet appeared and challenged the winner of Sunday's title match. So it looks like Ricochet will be back in NJPW for another shot at the IWGP Junior Championship.

Hiroshi Tanahashi, Togi Makabe & Tetsuya Naito defeated Toru Yano, Gedo & Tomohiro Ishii (CHAOS). This was a whole lot of fun. Naito has quickly become the most interesting character in NJPW as he heads towards a heel turn. He first wouldn't tag in, and when he did he slapped Tanahashi really hard on the back. He then shoved the ref, took shots while his opponent was in the ropes and wouldn't tag out until Makabe forced himself in and tossed Naito out. The last part of this match was all about Yano and Tanahashi, again with every single pin attempt from Yano being a believable near fall. They pulled hair and everything else until Tanahashi dodged some low blows and rolled Yano up after he shoved Yano into Gedo. After the match Naito left the ring and didn't celebrate with his partners.

Hirooki Goto, Katsuyori Shibata & Tomoaki Honma defeated YOSHI-HASHI, Kazushi Sakuraba & Shinsuke Nakamura. This was awesome. Everything about this was great. One of the highlights was Nakamura delivering a Kokeshi knee drop to Honma. We had some great exchanges between Nakamura & Goto. YOSHI-HASHI yet again was fantastic and as usual looked like he was going to pull off a huge upset over Goto. Honma hit a beautiful running Kokeshi on Sakuraba. Goto pinned HASHI after Goto and Shibata teamed up on him, with Goto hitting Shouten Kai to get the pin. After the match Sakuraba & Shibata slapped each other across the face. Just a great match, well worth checking out.

AJ Styles, Karl Anderson, Doc Gallows & The Young Bucks w/Amber Gallows (Bullet Club) defeated Beretta, Rocky Romero, Kazuchika Okada, Matt Taven & Mike Bennett w/Maria Kanellis This was completely nuts. I mean, when you have Mike Bennett doing a dive over the top rope you know things are out of control. Before the match we had team CHAOS/Kingdom do a synchronized Rainmaker pose with Okada. From there on it was madness. At one point Romero did his corner clotheslines on The Bucks, Anderson & Gallows only to eat a four way superkick. Romero was powerbombed out of the ring onto everyone at ringside. Beretta ate Pele/superkick combo from The Bucks. The Bucks & Styles hit 3 450 splashes on Beretta. Beretta was eventually put away after an Indytaker and a Styles Clash. It was madness and a match that everyone needs to see. After the match Styles said that on Sunday Bullet Club will win all their matches.

This was a really fun show despite their being no commentary and only a hard camera. The last two matches in particular are well worth your time. It is available on demand now on NJPW World. Dominion takes place live on Sunday morning.
