SAMI ZAYN INJURY UPDATE

The belief among WWE sources we have heard from is that Sami Zayn suffered some sort of rotator cuff injury on Monday. One person believed Zayn had a torn rotator cuff but we have been unable to confirm that is actually the case. WWE has yet to officially update Zayn's status.

Zayn's injury actually occurred before the match with John Cena Monday night as he was entering the ring and throwing his arms up to play to his hometown crowd in Montreal while standing on the ring steps. Zayn still went forward with the bout, despite a WWE trainer at one point stopping the match to check on him.

Zayn was out of action in March and April with shoulder issues, which PWInsider.com reported at the time. Zayn publicly denied he was having issues with his shoulder in media interviews, instead stating he had a "very minor" medical issue that prevented him from being cleared.

Zayn is scheduled to challenge WWE NXT champion Kevin Owens in the main event of the next WWE NXT Takeover special on 5/20.
