WWE KING OF THE RING REPORT: WHO WAS CROWNED KING?

We start off tonight with a graphic In Memory of Verne Gagne.

King of the Ring is a tournament that creates stars of the future and where future Hall of Famers make their first steps to immortality. Legends are born of the fire of King of the Ring. The tradition continues tonight. Who will seize their destiny to become King of the Ring?

We are in Moline, Illinois and your announcers are Michael Cole, John Layfield, and Jerry Lawler.

Jerry welcomes everyone to the King of the Ring. He says it takes a king to know a king. Last night, there were qualifying matches to see who would advance in the tournament. Those four men will compete. The journey to the throne will push the Superstars to the limit. The winner will be crowned The 2015 King of the Ring.

We take a look at the four qualifying matches.

Byron Saxton is with Sheamus, the 2010 King of the Ring winner. Byron asks Sheamus about his match against Neville and he asks where is his head. Sheamus says in less than an hour he will be a two time King of the Ring Winner. However, he has to get past a British elf like Neville. He defies gravity, but when you are unconscious it doesn’t matter. He doesn’t care who he faces in the finals, but he will make that person kiss his arse, like Dolph Ziggler.

Renee Young is with Adrian Neville and she asks him about his match. Neville says he was the longest reigning NXT Champion and less than a month ago, he made the move from NXT to the WWE. He is two wins away from winning the King of the Ring. Nobody expected this. Nobody expects him to beat Sheamus. He has defied expectations his entire career, just like he defies gravity. He will show Sheamus what a little fella can do.

Match Number One: Sheamus versus Adrian Neville in a King of the Ring SemiFinal Match

Sheamus shows everyone how short Neville is. They lock up and Sheamus backs him into the turnbuckles and gives a clean break. They lock up again and Sheamus backs Neville into the corner and he gives another clean break. Neville punches Sheamus and connects with a series of kicks. Neville floats over and flips across the ring. Sheamus blocks a kick but Neville connects with kicks. Sheamus with a uranage back breaker and the referee checks on Neville.

The referee holds Sheamus away from Neville while he checks on Adrian but Sheamus kicks Neville and hits another uranage back breaker. Neville with punches and Sheamus with a forearm to the back followed by a knee lift. Sheamus kicks Neville in the corner and chokes him with his boot.

Sheamus with a bear hug into a waist lock as he continues to work on the ribs. Neville with elbows and Sheamus slaps him. Neville with a flying forearm but Sheamus stays on his feet. Neville with a second and Sheamus stays on his feet. Sheamus with a knee and he sends Neville over the top rope to the apron. Sheamus tries for the forearms across the chest but Neville with an elbow. Sheamus with a forearm and he knocks Neville off the apron with a shoulder tackle and Neville hits the announce table.

The referee makes his count and Neville gets back into the ring at nine. Sheamus with a knee to the head and he sends him into the turnbuckles. Sheamus with punches to the ribs. Sheamus with a biel across the ring. Sheamus tells Neville ‘Little Fellas don’t belong in his ring’> Sheamus gets Neville on his shoulders for White Noise and he hits it.

Dolph Ziggler comes out and he has something to say to Sheamus. Dolph asks Sheamus if he remembers Ziggler beating him on Sunday night at Extreme Rules.

Sheamus misses a Brogue Kick and Neville with a round kick to the head. Neville goes up top and hits the Red Arrow for the three count.

Winner: Adrian Neville

After the match, Dolph Ziggler tells Sheamus there was a stipulation from when he won the match and he cannot remember what the stipulation was. Then he remembers and he is here to collect.

Ziggler charges to the ring and he attacks Sheamus. Sheamus gets out of the ring.

Sheamus goes back into the ring and he goes after Ziggler.

Officials come to the ring to try to separate them and we see that Sheamus’ eye was busted open.

We go to commercial.

We are back with a look at what happened after Neville defeated Sheamus when Dolph Ziggler and Sheamus brawled.

Renee Young is with Wade Barrett. She asks him about Neville’s ‘upset’ victory over Sheamus and whether he is confident of his chances. Barrett says that Truth should be talking about BullHammerPhobia. When he is done with this has been, he will deal with a never will be. When he is done with Neville, he will be known as the Man Who Nobody Remembers. All you will remember is him as King of the Ring.

Byron Saxton is with R Truth in the locker room. Byron asks Truth about his match with Wade Barrett. Truth says everyone knows he is afraid of spiders. He has a plan. He has been told to face his fears and look them in the eyes. He will win King of the Ring and then he will make some declarations. We will get rid of all spiders. The momma spiders, the daddy spiders, the children spiders, and all the kinfolk. We will build a castle with a drawbridge and moat. Truth says he has to think about water spiders.

Bryon asks him about Barrett. Truth says he is not invited unless he has experience killing spiders.

Match Number Two: Wade Barrett versus R Truth in a King of the Ring SemiFinal Match

Truth with a rollup for a near fall. Barrett with shots to the midsection. Truth does some dancing and Barrett runs into an elbow. Truth with an O’Connor Roll for a near fall. Barrett with a boot to the head and he gets a near fall. Barrett chokes Truth in the ropes. Barrett has Truth in the ropes and connects with a series of knees and he sends Truth to the floor with a boot to the chest.

Barrett sends Truth’s head into the apron and then back into the ring and he gets a near fall. Barrett runs into boots from Truth and Truth with clotheslines and a sit out gourdbuster for a near fall. Truth with a leg lariat for a near fall. Truth with a punch and then he hits a flying forearm for a near fall. Truth tries for the Truth Detector but Barrett is in the ropes. Barrett with the Blackpool Slam and he gets a near fall.

Barrett sends Truth into the turnbuckles and he kicks Truth. Barrett with an Irish whip but he misses a splash and Truth hits the Truth Detector but Barrett gets his foot on the rope to stop the count. Barrett rolls to the floor and Truth grabs Barrett but Barrett rakes the eyes and he gets back into the ring and he hits a BullHammer for the three count.

Winner: Wade Barrett

Michael Cole mentions the passing of Verne Gagne and we have a video package for Verne.

Jerry Lawler says everyone who came in contact with Verne has fine memories. Jerry mentions Verne having faith in him to make him the AWA champion in 1988.

Renee Young is with Dolph Ziggler. Renee asks Dolph about helping Sheamus advance last night in the King of the Ring Tournament. We see highlights of Dolph’s interference that cost Dean a spot in the semifinals.

Renee brings up Dolph costing Sheamus his chance in the tournament. Dolph says that Sheamus has bullied people and he cannot take it anymore. He apologized to Dean Ambrose. He tells Sheamus that was just a taste of what you will get when you step in the ring with him. Don’t worried about kissing his arse, be worried about him kicking Sheamus’.

We see footage of the match between Neville and Wade Barrett on the Extreme Rules Kickoff Show.

Byron Saxton is with Wade Barrett. Byron asks Wade about having to face the man who beat him on Sunday night. Wade says it is unfair he has to fight Neville immediately after disposing of R Truth. It is unfair that Neville has to face him since he is on a roll. After he wins, he will take his rightful place on his throne as the King of the Ring.

We go to commercial.

Match Number Three: Adrian Neville versus Wade Barrett in the King of the Ring Finals

The bell rings and Barrett goes to the floor to maintain control of the match pace. They lock up and Barrett punches Neville in the ring and then he kicks him in the ribs. Barrett with an Irish whip and Neville floats over and flips across the ring. Neville with a head scissors and kicks. Barrett clotheslines Neville over the top rope to the floor.

Barrett follows Neville to the floor and he slams Neville on the floor. Barrett runs Neville ribs first into the apron. Barrett sends Neville back into the ring and he gets a near fall. Barrett punches Neville in the ribs and then he puts Neville on the turnbuckles and connects with forearms to the back and a knee to the midsection to send Neville to the mat. Barrett gets a near fall.

Barrett with a slingshot backbreaker for a near fall. Barrett kicks Neville in the back and then he applies an arm bar and turns it into a modified bow and arrow. Neville with kicks to Barrett but Barrett kicks back. Neville escapes a second slingshot belly-to-back suplex attempt. Neville with a series of kicks and Neville clotheslines Barrett over the top rope to the floor.

Neville goes to the apron and he hits an Asai Moonsault and both men are down and Neville holds his ribs and he appears to be having some issues breathing. Neville sends Barrett into the ring and he hits a springboard drop kick. Neville with kicks and forearms followed by a chop and back heel kicks. Neville with a running kick to the temple and he hits a dead lift German suplex for a near fall.

Neville with a running forearm into the corner but Barrett with a Blackpool Slam for a near fall. Barrett picks up Neville and gets him set for Wasteland but Neville escapes to his feet. Neville with a back heel kick but Barrett gets Neville on his shoulders and hits Wasteland for a near fall.

Barrett sets up for the BullHammer as Neville gets back to his feet. Neville avoids the BullHammer and hits an O’Connor Roll for a near fall. Neville with a kick to the head and he goes up top for the Red Arrow. Neville sees Barrett move and Neville lands on his feet. Neville charges into the corner and Barrett with a BullHammer for the three count.

Winner: Wade Barrett

After the match, Barrett approaches his throne and he puts on his Royal robe and he puts on his crown and takes his scepter.

Jerry Lawler congratulates Wade on his victory. Wade says finally there is a man in WWE with enough class and elegance to call himself ‘King’. Wade says he will be ruling his kingdom with an Iron Fist and a BullHammer . . . BOOM.
