We start off with the compulsory history videos to open the show, then Kurt Angle comes out to the ring and asks Eric Young to come out and join him. Eric comes to the ring and Kurt asks again whether he's going to face the evil Eric Young or the competitor who won the TNA World Title last year. Eric says he's been called crazy his entire life, but he won the TNA World Title. That title got taken away from him, and Kurt knows what that's like, and people started getting in his head because he was looking for answers. It turned into a snowball, but Kurt stopped that snowball when Kurt turned his back on him. Eric didn't jump him from behind, he stopped Kurt from getting hit with a chair, and he even stopped himself from taking a shot at Angle with a chair. If Kurt wants to know who he is facing tonight for the title, Eric says it'll be the best one, the real Eric Young. Eric extends his hand to Kurt and they shake, and Eric says may the best man win.
The segment appears to be over until Austin Aries comes out with the briefcase and says that before we make tonight's match official, he has something everyone is going to want to hear. Aries says the real Eric Young is the man who turned on his best friend, left him laying, and cost him the TNA world Title. The real Eric Young is a ticking time bomb who shouldn't be trusted and not to make that mistake. Aries holds in his hand a shot at Angle's title, so he's walking out here with no games or shenanigans to declare that in the main event tonight, it will be Kurt Angle defending the title against Austin Aries and Eric Young is going to have to wait his turn and take his crazy and save it for another time. He suggests Angle go to the back and get prepared to face the greatest professional wrestler today, because they're going to have one of the most epic matches in TNA history before he walks out with the TNA World Title. Aries leaves and Eric points a finger at Angle as if he had something to do with it.
We go backstage to Taryn Terrell, who says she has the chance to prove she deserves the title tonight. She's worked really hard to prove she deserves the title, and she's taking Kong down tonight.
It's time to crown a new #1 contender to the Knockouts Title! Madison runs out and nails Brooke from behind (get your mind out of the gutter) during her entrance, and starts beating her up in the aisle as we go to commercial.
#1 Contender Match: Angelina Love vs Gail Kim vs Brooke Tessmacher vs Madison Rayne
We're back and Madison is still beating on Brooke, only now it's in the ring. Now she and Angelina double team Brooke (GET YOUR MIND OUT OF THE GUTTER!!!), but Gail comes in and makes the save. Gail holds her own against both Angelina and Madison for a short bit before Angelina connects with a leg lariat. Angelina knocks Brooke back to the floor when she tries to get to the apron, and the BPs go back to double teaming Gail. No sooner do I call them the BPs than Madison kicks Angelina in the head and tries a second rope dropkick on Gail. Gail avoids that and starts to mount a comeback when Brooke comes back in and Pounces her out of nowhere, then rolls Madison up for 2. Brooke flapjacks Angelina, then all four girls get into one of those submission chain things. That breaks up and then Brooke and Gail take out the BPs with stereo missile dropkicks, then wipe one another out with stereo cross body blocks. All four girls are down, then everyone is up and takes turns doing moves to each other until Brooks faceplants Madison for the win.
Winner: Brooke Tessmacher
Well, I'm happy to see Brooke finally get something, but the match was really indyriffic.
We see a promo from the Rising, who are here to give the BDC and professional wrestling a wake up call. They don't care which member of the BDC goes to the ring tonight, the BDC is falling and they are Rising.
Mr. Stupidhead The Dumb Cameraman is backstage and asks Eric Young how he feels about Austin Aries cashing in his title shot, and Eric asks he would feel if he had his title shot taken out from under him like that.
The Rising and the Beat Down Clan come out to the ring, MVP gets a mic and says Drew is right about the dignity of professional wrestling, and it'll be one on one, straight up tonight, no games. MVP confirms that Micah's the guy, then he says to give him a minute to take his coat off. Kenny King attacks Micah from behind, and MVP tells Drew to get out of the ring because he said it would be one on one, he never said it would be him.
Micah vs Kenny King
King whups on Micah, but Drew decides to cheat first and trips King from the floor. The referee ejects Drew and Eli Drake, and now Micah is all by himself out there against the entire BDC. King crotches Micah on the top rope and hits a spinning enziguiri to knock him to the floor where the BDC gleefully attacks him while the referee's back in turned. They go inside and King maintains the advantage until Micah hits a suplex, ducks another spinning enziguiri, and hits a Stinger splash in the corner. Micah easily pops King up and hits a Bodybag, but MVP distracts the referee when Micah goes for a cover. Low Ki grabs Micah's ankle from the floor and lets King hit a leaping enziguiri, but that's only good enough for 2. King with the cartwheel kick and then he goes to the apron for a springboard move, but Micah catches him and counters to a Samoan drop for the win.
Winner: Micah
I think MVP and Low Ki were in the ring attacking Micah before the ref's hand even left the mat after counting 3, but Drew Galloway and Eli Drake come out to even the odds. Homicide comes out of the crowd with the telescoping nightstick and beats all three Rising members down.
We go backstage where the Rising are helping Drew Galloway walk after they all got laid out, and Drew says he's tired of this thing with Low Ki and since next week is Hardcore Justice, he wants Low Ki in a steel pipe on a pole match.
Laurie Dennis vs Jade
Marti and Jade get in Christy's face when she announced them by name instead of as the Dollhouse. Anyway, they're crazy, think the types of girls you meet in Silent Hill. Josh discusses Dennis' history as Cherry Bomb as she crucifixes Jade for 2. Jade goes to confer with Marti and then goes back to Dennis where she beats her up and hits a gutwrench suplex. Jade takes turns beating up Dennis and yelling at the referee, and Marti is excited as heck watching Jade from the floor. Marti trips Dennis from the floor and the referee ejects her, so Marti starts to leave, then turns back and rams the referee into the ringpost. She runs into the ring and joins Jade in a 2-on-1 beatdown on Dennis.
Winner: Laurie Dennis by DQ
The Dollhouse are REAL MAD that they got disqualified, and they go menace Christy on the floor for calling the finish and then straight up kick her ass and ram her into the ring steps.
Kurt Angle comes in to see Eric Young and says he had no idea Aries was going to do that, and Young says he appreciates Angle coming to talk to him but he's sick of being leapfrogged by everyone when it comes to title shots. He's done letting it happen, and he gets up and walks out before Angle gets to respond.
We go out to the ring where Brutus Magnus introduces his fiance Mickie James to make an announcement about her future. Mickie comes out and thanks the fans for their response, and he came back to support Magnus during a very difficult situation with Bram. Everyone welcomed her back with open arms and she feels blessed to get to share the ring with the best female wrestlers of the generation and beat them all. Holding a World Title gives you a sense of purpose, but now her life has a new purpose and his name is Donovan. She knows fans with families of their own know what she's talking about, and she couldn't have asked for a better career or better fans, but it's time for her to go home and be a mom, and try to be the best mom she could ever be. She thanks the fans for giving her the chance to do what she did, and the fans response with a thank you Mickie chant when James Storm's music hits. Come on, you KNEW it wasn't going to end like that! James Storm comes out and says he knows this is a family moment, but he wants to say that Mickie has known him for a long time, and the people who know him know he loves cold beer, hot women, and fast cars, and he looks at her and sees a female version of himself, a woman who will drink wine out of a box instead of a fancy cup, and a woman who will stand up for herself. But he wants to know when she stands back there and hears her music and hears the fans chant for her, and he's known her for a long time, but he doesn't want to see her go. Magnus says he appreciates everything Storm said and did, but this was a tough decision for them. Storm says he makes easy decisions, and this isn't a decision he thinks should be made. He says Mickie is one of the best wrestlers, and country singers, he's ever known, but Mickie says she thinks it's the right decision to be a full time mom. Storm says he understands it, and he knows she loves her son and "Nick" very much, but the fans love Mickie James, and he's not asking her to walk away forever or even do a full time schedule, but he just wants her to get in the ring one more time. Storm leads the fans in a one more match chant, and he gets Mickie to yell "ONE MORE TIME!" Storm pats Nick on the shoulder and heads to the back while Nick looks kinda bothered by this whole thing.
We go backstage after the break and Mickie tells Nick she got caught up out there and he knows how she loves the business, and Davey Richards comes in and says hi to them. He asks Mickie for a moment with Magnus, and he tells him that he knows Magnus has been here a lot longer than him, but Storm is the devil and not to let him affect his family. Magnus thanks him and Davey says he's got a match and leaves.
Davey Richards vs Manik
These guys have wrestled a million times on the west coast indies, and they start off with a quick back and forth. Davey knocks Manik to the floor and drills him with a running boot across the apron, but then they come back inside and Manik catches Davey with a rolling cross armbreaker. Davey gets free, Manik gets a hanging triangle choke over the ropes, but Davey gets out of that and connects with a kick. Manik avoids a top rope double stomp, hits a pop up chinbreaker, Davey counters a double chickenwing to a victory roll, then hits the Alarm Clock and finishes with Creeping Death.
Winner: Davey Richards
Great match, but you should check out what they've done in PWG and ROH if you're so inclined. Khoya and Abyss attack Davey after the match, but the Hardys come out to make the save. They ram Khoya into the ring steps, then come into the ring and double team Manik.
EC3 and Tyrus (dressed in suits, with Tyrus wearing a derby hat and carrying balloons) are backstage, and EC3 has a special, specific announcement tonight.
Ethan Carter III and Tyrus come out and there's a podium set up in the middle of the ring so EC3 can, in much the same way people announce Presidential campaigns, declares himself the next TNA World Champion. He lists his qualifications as a nearly two year undefeated streak, his wins over Sting, Bully Ray, and Kurt Angle, and he promises that both unemployment and lazy millenials will go down when he becomes champion. He'll be one star, one hardcore legend representing all fifty states, he will take the title worldwide, and then he'll defend it in orbit, on the moon, and on Mars. Ken Anderson comes out to the ring and tells Ethan that he thinks he's got a hell of a future, but not as the World Champion. EC3 is so full of crap he should run for President and thinks he should take Anthony Weiner as his running mate. Tyrus knocks the podium over and gets in Anderson's face, and Anderson says he knew EC3 couldn't do it on his own. He spent 11 years trying to win his first title, breaking bones, breaking his face, and sacrificing everything to do it. EC3 says if Anderson wants to see if he's championship material, he's got it. They trade blows andAnderson gets the advantage. Anderson goes for the Mic Check, but EC3 bails and Tyrus escorts him up the ramp.
We see a video package hyping the Knockouts Title match, which is up after this commercial break!
Knockouts Title Match: Taryn Terrell vs Awesome Kong
Taryn gets the mic and says they should make this the match the fans deserve and make it a no disqualification match. Well that seems like a strange move to make with someone like Kong across the ring from you, but she's the champ. Anyway, Terrell tries rushing Kong and gets flattened and dumped to the floor. Kong goes out after her, bowls her over with a body block, then giant swings her into the guardrail. Kong has a pair of kendo sticks and uses them to massage Terrell's back. Kong tries to powerbomb Terrell onto the steps, but Terrell lands on her feet. Kong sweeps her legs and trips her onto the ring apron, then they head back inside where Kong misses a big splash. Terrell charges in with some clotheslines and a dropkick, then she comes off the top with a flying bodypress for 2. Terrell hits a basement dropkick and goes to the floor to get a table. She wastes a lot of time playing to the fans as she takes the hard piece of wood (mind out of the gutter...) out and slides it in...to the ring, that is. Terrell has a kendo stick and nails Kong with it as the Dollhouse comes out to the ring and watches Terrell set the table up. She tries a Diamond Cutter, but Kong just grabs her head and snaps it down onto the table. Kong goes onto the ropes for the Vader Splash, but the Dollhouse pop up on the apron and start hammering Kong with the kendo sticks. Terrell pops up and powerbombs Kong off the corner and through the table and covers for the win.
Winner: Taryn Terrell
Terrell gets a microphone and says that nobody thought she could beat Kong, but she beat her and nobody better mess with her because she and her friends don't play nice. This is her house...the Dollhouse. OOOOOOOH, Kong is gonna be mad.
Mr. Stupidhead The Dumbest Cameraman In History catches up with Austin Aries and asks him what his plan is for tonight. He says he just said it out there earlier, he's going to cash it in and win the title tonight. Eric Young comes out of the locker room and locks eyes with Aries, who says he's sorry but he'll give him the first title shot when he beats Angle. Eric walks away and we see him wheeling his suitcase behind him as he exits the building.
Josh talks about stuff and then we see Magnus backstage asking the production crew to spy on Mickie for him, then it's off to the ring for our main event...at 10:57! I smell angle here. Sure enough I'm right, as Eric Young comes out of the crowd and attacks Aries, throws him to the outside, and piledrives him on the floor. Eric beats up security when they try to intervene, and then he goes back to Aries and piledrives him on the ring steps. Kurt Angle comes out and pulls Young off of Aries, and Young looks like he's going to leave, but then he attacks Angle when he turns his back and repeatedly rams his face into the ring steps before curb stomping his face into the steps. Now Eric goes after Angle's knee and puts him in the figure four, and the champion is bloody and writhing in pain as we call it a week.
Thanks for reading the Impact Wrestling Report, I'll be back on Monday to talk about Impact and more with Dave Scherer on the Stu & Pid Show!
