SECOND, MORE DETAILED REPORT FROM THE 2/28 WWE SHOW IN TORONTO, ONT

By Craig Gordon on 2015-03-01 01:35:00

Packed house tonight for the show, legit sell-out

Chimel announced the "twitter poll" would let everyone decide on a 1 on 1 Divas Match or a 6-Diva tag. #GiveDivasAChance

Opening match was a Triple Threat for the IC title with Wade Barrett defending against Dolph Ziggler and Dean Ambrose. Ambrose out first, still in possession of the belt. Barrett followed with a promo saying he'd take his belt back. Ziggler out 3rd to get us going. Really solid opener with these three. Worked a very classic triple-threat style, with one guy always being knocked to the floor so the other two could work. Finish saw Barrett catch Ziggler with the Bull-Hammer to retain. Post-match, Ambrose dropped Barrett with Dirty Deeds & left with the title again.

Match 2: Tyler Breeze vs Sin Cara. A few pops for Breeze, though a few people in the crowd did not seem familiar with him (guess they haven't spent the 9.99 yet.) Kids got excited for Cara. Wasn't a great match, wasn't a bad match...was just...a match. Breeze had some good heel moments, & Cara hit a lot of springboard moves that the kids loved. Cara picked up the win with a sloppy top-rope splash.

Match 3: Los Matadores vs Heath Slater & Curtis Axel. Los Matadores out first with Torito, kids seemed to enjoy the bull. Axel & Slater next. The crowd was very much into #AxelMania, as multiple AxelMania chants broke out during the match. A few high-fly spots from the Matadores in this one. A lot of head-scissors & hurricanranas in this one. Ending saw Torito distract Axel as he was setting up for the perfect-plex. Distraction led to a back-stabber & a 3 count for Los Matadores.

Lights went out before the next match, & we got an appearance from Y2J. A good portion of the crowd wasn't aware he was booked, & he got quite a large ovation when he came out. He did the usual Y2J hype-up before running down the Authority. Insulted Triple H's nose & gave his usual Stephanie speech but let the crowd yell out "Hoe" as he wasn't allowed to cause it's a PG show. He was interrupted by Luke Harper, which led to Match 4...

Match 4: Chris Jericho vs Luke Harper. Really well worked match by these 2. Jericho used a lot of his arsenal & Harper pulled out most of his big man moves to beat down Y2J. Jericho locked in the Walls at one point, but Harper made the ropes. Ending came with Harper going for a clothesline in the corner, Jericho avoiding it & hitting the code-breaker for the win. Excellent match

Match 5: Randy Orton vs Bray Wyatt. Crowd was buzzing for this one. I'd say 60-65% of the crowd had their phone lights out/on during Bray's entrance, really cool to see live. Huge pop for Orton. Really cool start as Orton slammed Bray's head into the turnbuckle, & Bray came out of it hitting his upside-down hang off the ropes & Orton's look was priceless. Bray controlled most of the match & tried to wear Orton down. Orton went for the 2nd-rope DDT, but Bray blocked it. Orton recovered with a snap-slam & eventually hit the DDT. He went for an RKO, which Bray blocked. Wyatt grabbed Orton for Sister Abigail, but Orton reversed into a school-boy. Wyatt kicked out at 2, jumped up & ate an RKO (yes...outta nowhere) & Orton picked up the win. Very solid match with both guys looking good heading to Mania

Intermission...time for Chimel to hock the merch

We get the results of the Twitter vote...& 96% wanted a 6-diva tag match...
Match 6: Summer Rae, Sasha Banks & Cameron vs Natalya, Naomi & Emma. For the very start, Nattie & Naomi were continuing their feud from Raw/SD. One would hit a move & be blind tagged out, so the other would tag back in the same way. Emma eventually separated them & tagged in. Heels worked over Emma for a little bit before Naomi got the hot tag. She cleared the ring until Nattie blind tagged back in & locked Summer in the sharpshooter to get the victory. No post-match celebration for the victors as Nattie celebrated up the aisle & left Emma & Naomi in the ring. A decent match between these 6, & it was nice to see a Divas match go longer than 90 seconds

Match 7: The Miz & Damien Mizdow vs The Uso's. Miz came out 1st to boo's...& then my Goodness! Mizdow got an ovation that would be in the top 3 or 4 for the night. Uso's did their full entrance which most of the crowd loved. Very comedy filled match as you'd expect. Miz handed Mizdow a chair & told him to sit in the corner. Mizdow did the slow burn looking at the chair & then Miz but went & sat down. Uso's took turns beating on Miz & it led to Mizdow doing some of his old "stunt double" work, really good stuff that the crowd ate up. Mizdow eventually got a blind tag, hit a couple moves & was tagged back out by Miz. Uso's ended up getting the win & danced with Mizdow post-match

Match 8 (Main Event): Daniel Bryan vs Kane in a No DQ match. Kane out first, usual reaction for the veteran. D-Bry out & had the whole building "Yes"ing. Kane attacked Bryan before the bell & they brawled around ringside for a bit. Kane brought a kendo stick in that both men ended up using. Kane used a chair on Bryan & controlled the match for a bit. Bryan turned it around and used the kendo stick in combination with the Yes kicks before bringing a table into the ring. Teased a flying knee through the table before Kane put Bryan through it with a chokeslam for a 2 count. Kane went for a 2nd chokeslam on a chair, but Bryan reversed & connected with the Running Knee to get the 3-count & send the fans home happy. Really good match to end the show.

Overall solid show. Nothing "match of the year" quality, but very well paced matches & very few dead spots. Entertaining for sure
