THE CHANGE WWE NEEDS TO MAKE TO THE ROYAL RUMBLE, ELEVATING BRAY WYATT, SPICING UP MONEY IN THE BANK AND MORE

It's been talked about on your site before that MITB has lost its magic over the years and is underwhelming as a cheap title reign. What would you think about the MITB being changed to determine the number one contender for Summerslam in the way the Royal Rumble is used for Wrestlemania?

I think the briefcase has run its course for sure. It was even comical this year when Seth Rollins called out Brock Lesnar for his “anytime” match and he wasn’t there. I like the idea of making it for a set match. I say it can be for the title at either The Rumble or SummerSlam, period. Winner has to choose when he wins in July.

Let me take the question on the Punk-Amann lawsuit a bit differently.  Why would WWE choose to raise this issue again.  After 4 months, the fans have largely forgotten it.  They could have let the internal folks know they stand by Amann and avoided a lot of bad publicity.  Amann is still working for WWE and, thus, it seems difficult to prove actual harm, so what is the win for WWE?

WWE didn’t raise the issue. They have been very careful to say that the suit is not theirs but rather Dr. Amann’s.

This might be far-fetched, but I’ll throw it out there anyway.  What if NXT as a brand were to become more popular than Raw, SmackDown, or both?  It certainly seems like NXT’s top-tier talent can hang with the other upper-level talent in WWE.  Would Vince take over the brand and remake it to conform to his idea of “entertainment,” or would he let Triple H continue to do his thing?  I’m just curious to hear your thoughts on the matter.

It is far fetched because without a national TV deal, it’s not going to happen. But hypothetically, it would be very interesting if it did. Would Vince do what is best for business, and realize H had his finger on the pulse of the fans, or would he stay married to his way of doing things. I honestly don’t know what he would do.

I just wanted to ask your thoughts on a scenario I’ve come up with. By now we all know Bray Wyatt is going against Undertaker at WrestleMania 31 and I personally think Taker is going to win because I don’t think WWE will have him lose twice in a row as it would make him look as weak as he did against Lesnar.   Back to my scenario: After a entertaining back-and forth match Undertaker gets the win and Bray Wyatt looks at him in disbelief thinking “How could I have lost.” Taker then looks at Wyatt seemingly impressed by him, Taker then does his signature pose on one knee with his hand out, the lights go out and when they come back on Taker is now holding his urn and extends his arm to Bray, Wyatt then does his signature pose were he gets on both knees with his arms out, Wyatt then takes the urn from Taker “like a passing of the torch”, the light go out again and come back on and Taker has disappeared leaving Wyatt in the ring on his own.   Your thoughts?

If they were really, really committed to pushing Wyatt, it would a good way to get him elevated. I like it.

Always a great column. I haven't written in awhile but after reading about the predictability of the Royal Rumble, I wondered if it had to be that way at all. Couldn't the Royal Rumble be used to launch a year-long storyline that elevates a b-level talent to a star. For instance, you take Damien Sandow and have him win the Rumble and earn his title shot at Wrestlemania only to have the Authority make a comment they would totally make, saying the stipulation is for A+ performers (it doesn't have to be verbatim). They steal it from him in the February PPV. They run a feud all year long where Damian Sandow beats top tier players along the way. The Authority puts him at No. 1 at the next Rumble and people assume he will win but he gets screwed by the Authority in the way Vince screwed Austin. Then, mirroring the year prior, Sandow overcomes the odds at the February PPV to win back his shot and wins the title at Wrestlemania. A year-plus angle that builds a new main event star with both Royal Rumbles being unpredictable.

They could go that way I guess. I am a little sick of The Authority saying guys are no good though. I do like taking the automatic Mania match out of play though because it makes this month’s PPV a bit of a lame duck. Personally, I would like to see winning the Rumble guarantee you a shot at Fast Lane to face the other top contender for the right to main event Mania, just like they did this year.
