Ring of Honor drew an estimated 1,300 (paid going into the show expected to top 1,200) in the building last night for their first live event in Atlanta, GA after their TV was added to the market. ROH management was thrilled with the turnout and are planning a return to the market in late summer. That date will be 8/29.
Results from the show saw:
Jack Jameson & Brandon Espinosa defeated The Washington Bullets.
*Caprice Coleman pinned Mike Posey.
*Corey Hollis vs. Jonathan Gresham resulted in a no contest when The Decade attacked both men. This set up an impromptu tag bout that saw The Decade defeat them.
*Matt Sydal defeated Delirious with a Shooting Star Press.
*Roderick Strong pinned ROH Tag Team champion Kyle O'Reilly after a sick kick and backbreaker combination.
*Moose defeated ACH after a spear. Moose was super over.
*Hanson defeated ROH TV Champion Jay Lethal, Michael Elgin, Cedric Alexander, Tommaso Ciampa and Will Ferrara (substituting for Jimmy Jacobs) in a six way. Said to have been very chaotic and fun. Jacobs and Truth Martini missed the show due to travel issues.
*IWGP Champion AJ Styles defeated ROH Tag Team champ Bobby Fish with the Styles Clash in their first ever Meeting. This was a huge homecoming for Styles, who got a massive standing ovation.
Mike Bennett & Matt Taven defeated ROH champion Jay Briscoe & Mark Briscoe in a Best Two out of Three Falls Armageddon bout. Highlight was Mark doing a splash off the lighting structure on Taven through a table. Lots of violence and a good brawl. The idea here was to continue to build credibility for The Kingdom as there are big plans for them this year. Taven was busted open hardway and needed six staples in his head after the show.
Backstage visitors included Stevie Richards (who now lives in Atlanta as he's working for DDPYoga and was filming segments for them backstage) and Bill Behrens.
