LOCKDOWN SELLS OUT AND MORE TNA NEWS FROM NIGHT TWO OF THE NYC IMPACT TAPING

By Mike Johnson on 2015-01-09 09:40:05

TNA informed fans at last night's Impact Wrestling tapings in New York City that tonight's taping, which will feature Lockdown 2015, was sold out in advance. There may be some tickets released at the box office.

Some additional details on the production issues on Wednesday. As we noted, the Manhattan Center's production equipment was being used. What happened is the entire control board went down and then after they got it up and functional again, it went down. They were about to send a dark match to the ring to stall for time when they finally got it working.  They were extremely lucky they were filming live to tape in advance.

Dave Sahadi was not at the NYC tapings to direct the show on Wednesday as he was in Nashville overseeing the installment of and working on the new post-production equipment the company will be using to edit their show going forward.

There was at least one segment shot in the streets of NYC yesterday featuring MVP's crew, which will be titled The Beatdown Clan (B.D.C.).  Expect the company to try and put a lot of heat on BDK in the weeks to come.

The darker lighting of the Wednesday broadcast was done on purpose as a way to get all of the attention of the TV viewers on the ring. It was a John Gaburick call we are told and it's a work in progress. Last night's taping was far more lit and it's something the company is trying to find the right balance for.

Destination America reps were at both nights of the tapings this week and were happy with the shows.

TNA President Dixie Carter, Chris Melendez and Ken Anderson took part in a panel yesterday at the Television Critics Association gathering in Los Angeles. To read Deadline.com coverage, click here.

Former Senior Director of Live Events Rafael Morfi was visiting at the event. He's now working for the New York Cosmos soccer franchise and recently celebrated the birth of his son. Our congratulations to the Morfi family.

Noelle and Dewey Foley were sitting in the first row and visiting at the show last night.

The crowd last night was down from the Wednesday taping, which the company was well aware of going into the show. I'd place it at 300-350 fans.

The next TV tapings will be during the UK tour and there's talk of returning to NYC in March.

Set for next Friday's Impact Wrestling:

*A World Heavyweight championship celebration for Lashley.
*The Wolves vs. The Hardy Boys.
*Samoa Joe vs. Kurt Angle.
*Eric Young vs. Bobby Roode.
*TNA X-Division champion Austin Aries vs. Low Ki.
*The Beautiful People vs. TNA Knockouts champion Taryn Terrell & Brooke Tessmacher.
