OFF AIR NOTES FROM RAW

By Chris Gabbard on 2014-12-16 08:13:06

Have some notes from RAW from being Live in person. I only watched the first hour back on TV but for the most part the crowd for RAW was very good, the best I have seen for a TV taping in some time. I typed this up late so i apologize for any errors.

RAW Notes  From Detroit, MI - 12.15.14

Superstars Spoilers:

Emma defeated Summer Rae via Submission with the Emma Lock. Nothing great

Cesaro  & Tyson Kidd defeated Los Matadors w/ El Torito via pinfall after Tyson Kidd hit a reverse blockbuster  while Cesaro held one of the Matadors – It was a cool move and fans were into Cesaro and Kidd as a tag team. Fun match

RAW
:
-There was zero tarps in the upper bowl of Joe Louis Arena like the last couple times RAW or SmackDown! came to Detroit. The crowd was hot for most of the stuff with a few occasions where they had little to no interest in a match.

- Jericho was really over and I haven’t got to watch all of RAW from TV but I noticed one of the things he called Fandango got bleeped which was Fan “Bung Hole” but apparently it was ok for Lawler to call Paul Heyman one when he came out instead of Fandango.

- Heyman also over and entertaining as always on the mic.

- Seth Rollins got the typical “You Sold Out Chants” but during the Steel Cage with Cena, he was getting chants for Let’s go Rollins/ Cena Sucks  much like the match with Cena at TLC PPV.

- Dolph Ziggler got a great reaction from crowd during the Tag Match with Erik Rowan vs. Big Show and Luke Harper. Fans really didn’t like the finish with Big Show KO’ing Rowan to win. Big Show got little reaction during the match.

- The Bellas vs. Alicia Fox & Natayla – Fans cheered Natayla and her winning with the Sharpshooter but other than that they had very little interest in this match.

- Highlight Reel with Rusev w/ Lana, fans really enjoyed it. Ryback got ok reaction.

- New Day vs. Gold & Stardust – fans really weren’t into this match and one point during a commercial break Stardust grabs the mic saying how often does Stardust come to Detroit and tells the fans to sit down and shut the hell up and slams the mic down to draw heat. CM Punk, MizDow Chants and some other chants I didn’t pick up were said during this match.

- Adam Rose got heel heat and Kane got cheered when he choke slammed both Rose and The Bunny and especially after Kane returned after he won to Tombstone the Bunny and fans chanting one more time.

- Crowd erupted for Brock Lesnar when Heyman announced he was there during the Street Fight with Jericho.

- Roman Reigns got a good reaction as well when he hit Fandango with a Superman punch and spear.

- Mizdow was REALLY over in Detroit and the crowd enjoyed his stunts during The Miz vs. Jimmy Uso match.

- Lesnar doing 3 German suplexs to Cena during the Steel Cage match had the approval of most with a small minority rooting for Cena.

- Ambrose and Wyatt both go good reactions during the Dark Match Brawl

Dark Match:

-After RAW went off the air, the cage went up and Cena is out from beating he took from Brock Lesnar and Seth Rollins Curb Stomp.

Bray Wyatt's music hits and he comes to the ring and tries to hit Cena with Sister Abigail when Dean Ambrose's music hits and comes down to make the save. Cena rolls to the floor and then walks to the back while Ambrose and Wyatt brawl – this wasn’t a match just a short 5 minute brawl where Ambrose got the kendo stick and wailed on Bray. At one point Bray wanted to shake hands and Ambrose swung and repeatedly beat up Wyatt with the kendo stick. That was pretty much it. Ambrose shook hands with fans at ringside, sign autographs for some fans and then left.

Overall from a live perspective it was a fun show but had its moments where people were not interested in other matches.

The original dark main event was Ambrose/Cena vs. Rollins/Wyatt but given what Ambrose and Wyatt did at TLC PPV I had no issue with that and was surprised the two could even walk after the abuse they took. I can’t say the same for some of the others around me.

Next time WWE comes to Detroit is March 10th for SmackDown!, fans who attended RAW were given the Pre-sale code which is Smackdown.
