FINN BALOR, EL DANDY, HOW WWE CAN GIVE TRYOUTS TO TALENTS UNDER WWNLIVE CONTRACTS AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2014-12-13 10:00:00
Whatever happened to Judas Devlin? WWE had him under a developmental contract and he disappeared with rumors of injury. On Twitter for awhile, there was chatter about a letter he wrote about his treatment in developmental and again, that all disappeared?

In asking around, I was told that Devlin, who had been out of action for a year or so with a back/spine injury of some kind, was released several months back from the company. As far as allegations that were made, there were a lot of rumors but nothing was ever officially brought to light that I am personally aware of. Unless Devlin decides to speak on the subject, I don't know that those rumors will ever be proven or shot down.

Do you think it would be a draw for PPV/Network Specials to have Finn Balor only use bodypaint and spectacular entrances for those events? I must have watched the entrance a dozen times today!

We have heard the entrance and the bodypaint will be used regularly down the line for major events. My guess is we won't see it until the next live special or a major title bout that Balor is involved in.

Why is it that Finn Balor isn't working the NXT live events?

I don't have a real answer for that, except my theory is that since his ring work is so above the grade and the live events are there to give guys a chance to work and improve, he's not working as a way to save his body and give others who need the ring work far more a chance.

The El Dandy who retired - is that the same one from WCW?

Yes, one and the same.

I really enjoyed your interview with Gabe Sapolsky last week. He noted that Uhaa Nation was still under contract, but we know that WWE has shown interest. So, how can Nation try out if he's under a deal? I don't understand that - what's the point of the contracts then?

The point of the contracts is to show commitment to the talents so that they know they are going to get regular work from WWNLive, DGUSA, etc. In regard to talents getting WWE tryouts, Sapolsky has been on record that they don't want to get in the way of talents having the chance to make big money - so if interest or an offer comes along, they are willing to release the talents, and they have done so with Solomon Crowe, Luke Harper and others.
