LIVE THOUGHTS AND NOTES FROM WWE NXT TAKEOVER: R-EVOLUTION

By Andrew Twiss on 2014-12-11 23:36:13

Here are some live notes from NXT Takeover REvolution

- There was new merchandise available before and after the show. They include:
- A new SAWFT necklace
- Three different Bayley slap bracelets
- Sami Zayn wristbands
- Official replicas of the three different NXT title belts. These were the nice ones, not the cheap kind you get at your local toy store.

Shortly before the show ended,  new t-shirts for Kevin Owens and Finn Balor were available. This led to some people leaving as the main event started to go buy them. The Owens shirt is the same one he wore on the show and is ok, but the Balor shirt is pretty darn cool and reflects his new paint look. I was able to get the Balor shirt after the show without rushing.

- Pre show dark match was Bull Dempsey defeating Steve Cutler. A pretty nothing match.

-  Crowd was red hot for Kevin Owens' debut. The match was a great way to kick off the show.

- The crowd was split between the Vaudevillains and Lucha Dragons. Match was ok, but never seemed to get out of first gear.

-  The  fans LOVE Baron Corbin. They were hot for his face off with Bull Dempsey.

- The new Finn Balor entrance is amazing live. Between his look, the smoke, the lighting, everything,  he looks like a stud. I also like Itami's new gear. It's an upgrade over his old gear. Match was really good. Crowd loved the tease of Itami hitting the GTS. Lots of cool false finishes and got the crowd amped up.

- If it weren't for the main event, the women's title match would have been the show stealer. It's amazing that if you develop talented women, treat them like real competitors, and let them wrestle longer matches, the crowd will be into them. Crowd was surprisingly more in favor of Sasha Banks instead of Charlotte, but both looked great. Just a blow away match.

- What else can be said of the main event? Those two guys can't have a bad match against each other. There may have been a few too many "This is Awesome" chants, especially early on in the match, but the buildup to that finish was spectacular.  When Sami hit the Helluva kick and pinned Neville, that was the LOUDEST I have ever heard Full Sail. That crowd LOVES Sami and were thrilled to see him win the big one.

- The crowd loved the post match celebration, although a lot of people missed the Neville hug. With all of the wrestlers lined up facing the hard cam, they blocked the sight of half the crowd. The fans were completely into Owens being the first one to come down and hug Sami. You knew something was up when he came down again. It's hard to tell live sometimes since you don't always know when you are off the air, but you figured something was up.

Overall, a really fun night and I'm excited to be at Friday's tapings to see where everything goes.
