HOTSHOTTING TITLES, THE MOST UNLIKELY RAW GUEST STAR I'D LIKE TO SEE, WHY THE DDT ISN'T BANNED AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2014-10-03 10:00:00
What does DDT stand for? Speaking of DDT, since WWE has banned chair shots to the head as well as pile drivers in order to cut down on concussions, why is the DDT allowed? Since it's a move where the wrestler is driven head first into the mat, isn't the risk just as great for getting a concussion?

DDT stands for dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane, a now-banned instecticide that was discovered to be so dangerous that it could cause cancer and caused massive damage to Different species of bird.

As far as why the DDT move hasn’t been banned, it’s because the move can be delivered effectively and safely if done right. It’s not like a piledriver where if the move is performed even slightly incorrectly, it can lead to major neck trauma. It also isn’t as risky as a chairshot, where momentum or a wrestler “getting caught up in the moment” could be equally dangerous.

So, maybe it's me. TNA is kinda playing hot potato with its titles. Barring the Samoa Joe, x division title situation. It's seem like everyone is getting their turn. Magnus, Eric Young, Lashley, etc. Now I offer up these points ECW, which was known for lengthy reigns of its champions played hot potato in its final months, giving Jerry Lynn, Steve Corinio, and finally Rhino title reigns before finally closing shop. Same for WCW. I feel that if TNA doesn't finalize a TV deal, the company is done. My question is do you think the multiple changes are a sign of impending doom?

Absolutely not. WWF has played hot potato with their top titles on many occasions. The belts were switched so often due to creative decisions and whether they were good or bad ideas in hindsight can be debated, but I don’t think changing the belts is a sign the company is going out of business.

I was wondering what happened to TCW traditional championship wrestling? They really had a good product. Great roster, great wrestling and pretty good production. Then out of nowhere stopped doing shows and started running repeat shows every week and never gave an actual answer to why they disappeared. Maybe you guys know something I don't know.

I interviewed TCW owner Matt Riviera a few weeks back in the PWInsider Elite section. The company has closed due to the incredible overhead costs of trying to run a legitimate TV promotion. Unfortunately, the company was never able to turn a profit, so Riviera made the decision to shutter operations.

Whatever happened to the Director’s Cut of “Barbed Wire City?”

Directors John Philapavage and Kevin Kiernan are actually working on that cut of the film as I write this. There is no official plan for a release yet.

All time favorite Raw Guest Star? Who do you think would be the most unlikely, but fun Raw Guest Host? Was there ever a Raw Guest Host that was offered an appearance and turned it down?

My favorites, by far, have been The Muppets.

As far as someone who would never do it but I believe would be fun, I’ll go with Stephen Colbert, since I am a huge fan of his work and he’s such a clear opposite of what WWE’s product is, so I’d be very curious to see how those two entities would mesh.

I am sure that WWE has had offers out that were turned down. I know that actor Robert Englund was offered the chance to guest host and turned it down, for example. So, we missed our chance for Freddy Krueger to meet Kane and The Undertaker!
