World Wrestling Council (WWC)
WWC held their weekly house show/TV taping last Saturday at the “PepÃn Cestero
Arena†in Bayamón, PR. The following are the results from the card:
1. "Big Daddy" David Montes defeated AJ Castillo.
2. Rikochet became the new WWC Jr. Heavyweight champion after he defeated Angel
"Fashion" Pérez, who was accompanied by Vanilla Vargas. During the match there
were some issues with the referee, Tommy Diablo, who at one point was distracted
by Vanilla Vargas and baited into following her in an effort to get her to go
back to the locker rooms. Another referee came in but took a bump; Tommy came
back to the match and also took a bump; Rikochet had Fashion ready for the pin
and out of the locker room came none-other than Pelayito Vázquez, who came in
and made the count. After the match, Pelayito told Fashion that if he thought he
had taken him out of wrestling forever, he had another thing coming. He then
challenged Fashion to a match for Aniversario 41.
3. “Los Templarios†w/ Juan Manuel Ortega defeated Chicky Starr & Xix Xavant
4. Out comes Juan Manuel Ortega and Mighty Ursus to the ring. Ortega tells the
crowd that Ursus will not be putting the Universal title on the line in the
match because it was not fair that they did not know who they would be going up
against. Carlos Colón came out wearing a referee shirt and gets in the ring.
Ursus ignores him and continues to look at the entrance way to see who he would
be facing. Another referee comes out and starts walking towards the ring. At
that point Colón takes his referee shirt off and starts pounding on Urus, who is
taken by surprise. The “mystery wrestler†is Colón himself! He starts attacking
Ursus legs and getting him ready for the figure 4 leg lock. He gets the figure 4
on Ursus, only to have it turned on him. Colón turns it again, but Ursus turns
it on him once more, this time making Colón tap out. Ursus then starts beating
him until AJ Castillo, Angel Cotto, Chicano and Ray González come out and make
the save.
5. Huracan Castillo defeated Chicano after interference from Savio Vega.
6. Up next is the main event, "Mr. Ray-tings" Ray González vs "El Hombre que No
es Facil" Gilbert with David Montes. Gilbert comes to the ring and tells
González that he is still injured and cannot get in the ring with him, but that
he will not have a free evening because he will have to face
"Big Daddy" David Montes. They start the match and González takes the advantage
and has Montes ready to get him on his version of the figure four, when he sees
that Gilbert is jumping in the ring and stands his ground to receive him and the
referee decides to call the match and give the victory to González via DQ.
The next house show/TV taping is scheduled for Saturday October 11th at the “PepÃn
Cestero Arena†in Bayamón, PR. The match that has been announced at this point
will be for the WWC Puerto Rico Heavyweight title between Carlito (c) and “El
Boricua Mayor†Savio Vega. More matches will be announced in the next week and
on WWC’s TV shows next weekend.
WWC’s biggest event of the year, “Aniversario 41â€, will have a first show on
Friday October 24th at the “Francisco ‘Paquito’ Montaner Stadium†in Ponce, PR
and the second/main show being on Saturday October 25th at the “Hector Solá
Bezares Coliseum†in Caguas, PR. Both shows have a scheduled bell time of
8:00PM.
There are at least 2 confirmed matches that have been announced at the moment
for Saturday’s main show:
Revenge Match: Invader #1 vs “El Macho de 7 Suelas†Bronco #1
WWC World Tag Team Title Match: WWE’s “Los Matadores†w/ Torito vs “Los
Templarios†ASH & William De La Vega (c) w/ Juan Manuel Ortega
There are a couple of storylines running that could very well lead to the
following possible matches: Pelayito Vázquez vs Angel “Fashion†Pérez w/ Vanilla
Vargas; Carlito vs Mighty Ursus; “El Malcriado†Miguel Pérez vs "El Mostro"
Huracan Castillo.
As noted in the last couple of weeks, they also have been working on the angle
that will bring “El Patrón†Alberto (Del Rio), to take on Ray González in a
reprise of the PR vs Mexico feuds from the 1990’s. At the end of their Sunday TV
show this past weekend there was a vignette that presented Juan Manuel Ortega
driving his truck, when all of the sudden he receives a voicemail on his phone.
When he plays it back, it is Ricardo RodrÃguez telling him that he needs to
speak with him as soon as possible to finalize the plans for “El Patrón†Alberto
to come to Puerto Rico for Aniversario 41 to “…end the career of Ray Gonzálezâ€.
WWC has made the announcement that this year’s Aniversario 41 will be dedicated
to “El Dios de la Lucha Libre†Chicky Starr. It is expected that there will be
some sort of recognition activity regarding Starr’s career. Chicky has been a
staple of Puerto Rican wrestling since the early 80’s where he was billed as an
undercard babyface that was trained by Invader #1. In 1985 Starr slowly turned
heel, after he accused Invader #1 of holding his career down and preventing him
from getting important title matches. Starr challenged Invader #1 to a match.
The match was televised and Chicky Starr attacked his mentor with a steel chair.
On the following days Starr bleached his hair and began one of the biggest heel
characters in Puerto Rican wrestling history. He has not only been known as a
wrestler, but also as one of the best heel managers. Over the years, many big
stars were part of his stables, “Chicky Starr’s Sports Club†(WWC) and “Starr
Corporation†(IWA-PR), the likes of Abdullah The Butcher, Ron Starr, Al Perez,
“Sadistic†Steve Strong, Manny Fernandez, Dutch Mantell, Stan Hansen, Bruiser
Brody, and Hercules Ayala among others.
World Wrestling League (WWL)
The channel that presents the weekly episodes of WWL TV program, “Ãdolos del
Ringâ€, seemed to have some technical difficulties, which resulted in them
showing last week’s episode instead of this week’s show. According to the
company, CW Puerto Rico apologized for the mistake and will be presenting the
corresponding episode for this week this Thursday night at 10:00PM. WVQS-TV
“Retro Channelâ€, Channel 50.2 on local digital antenna will also present this
week’s episode tonight (Monday) at 9:00PM.

TV program, “Ãdolos del Ringâ€, Thunder & Lightning go after the Director of
Operations, Stefano gets a call from a close friend, and "La Mina de Oro" D-Nniss
Rivera receives a visit of a very good friend.
"You know, they say that when one needs help, you should always reach out to
your friends firstâ€, stated this D-Nniss friend as he walked by, distracted and
thoughtful. Who is this very good friend that is coming to help?
On the hand, Stefano receives a call from a “close†friend that said to him: “Papi,
this is your pretty and cute macho… Ha, ha, ha.†An excited Stefano only
responded: “Paparazzi!!.....â€
Thunder & Lightning go straight to “El Profe†and asked him if he had been the
one to send them the envelope with the invitation. “Noâ€, was his response and he
advised then to be careful, as things keep getting hotter in the WWL. After
their encounter, Thunder was thinking about the situation with Lightning and
stated: “Profe is not the Director of Operations. Someone sent us the document
and we know it was not Profe. Whoever sent it knew that we would get to WWL
because we thought it was Profe. One way or another we need to find out who it
is and get this over with! We just don’t know why. Who could be behind this
document?!?â€
