SECOND REPORT 9/26 WWE RESULTS FROM EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ

By Rollie Hatch on 2014-09-27 12:14:01

The Usos over the Wyatts after top rope splash.

NXT Champ Adrian Neville over Tyson Kidd after top rope corkscrew shooting star. Kidd cut a heel promo at the start of the match.

Big E & Kofi Kingston over Los Matadores. Before the match both teams shook hands, but Los Matadores were the first to resort to heelish tactics, mostly due to El Torito's interference. Xavier Woods and El Torito tussled a bit in the ring and ran backstage. When they returned, El Torito missed a top rope splash on Big E, hitting Diego and Fernando instead setting up the Big Ending/top rope leg drop combo.

Paige tapped out to Natalya's Sharpshooter. There was a funny spot at the beginning where Paige teased throwing her shirt into the crowd, but instead threw it in Natalya's face. Natalya then threw Paige's shirt into the crowd herself and an upset Paige begged the fan to give it back.

Big Show pinned Bray Wyatt after a knockout punch.

Great Khali won in a handicap tag match over Heath Slater and Titus O'Neil. Fans had voted for the handicap match option rather than have Khali take on Slater or O'Neil in a singles match.

Sheamus retains US Championship over Cesaro with a Brogue Kick. There was a brief time-out in the middle of this match as Cesaro left the ring to fix one of the WWE ring skirts that had come untied. Sheamus grabbed a mic and led a modest applause for Cesaro. Sheamus teased Cesaro by not giving him the mic, but finally handed it to him, then knocked him down once he started speaking. Seemed a bit hypocritical since Sheamus' anti-bullying video played just before this match started.

John Cena & Dean Ambrose beat Randy Orton & Seth Rollins. Before the start of the match, Rollins explained why he didn't have his Money In The Bank briefcase by showing a clip from Smackdown (which was airing at the same time as the event). Ambrose then came down to the ring with the briefcase in hand and took on Rollins and Orton by himself until Cena's music finally played and all four men were in the ring. Later on, Rollins got his hands on the briefcase but it ultimately did him in--Ambrose hit him with it, then Cena gave him an AA and a pin.

The biggest shock of the night was that no heels won any matches. It was a young, face-heavy crowd with the Usos, Big Show, Sheamus, and John Cena getting the biggest pops (though Cena's entrance drew considerably more cheers than the others). I believe Roman Reigns was originally on the card but with his injury, he obviously was dropped. I don't know who his opponent was supposed to be, so I'm not sure if there was a substitution or if the entire match was scrapped.
