BY THE NUMBERS: LOOKING BACK AT THE WEEK IN TELEVISION FROM WWE, TNA, AND ROH

By Richard Trionfo on 2014-09-22 07:29:41
With the special episodes of Impact that would once have been a pay per view for the company, combined with the decreased totals some weeks from Raw, the battle on top during these weeks are very close. This week was no different with Raw winning the week, but by only five minutes over Impact. The 51 minutes from Raw was the third time in the last eleven weeks that Raw has been over 50 minutes. Impact broke the 40 minute barrier for the second time in the last ten weeks.

Smackdown finished in third with 33 minutes of wrestling, but their lead over fourth place Main Event was only three minutes thanks to two 13 minute matches on the Tuesday night broadcast on the WWE Network. NXT finished in fifth place with 20 minutes of wrestling and Superstars dropped by a minute to 12 for the week.

The previous week had the latest NXT Takeover special so there were only five qualifying shows. This week, with six shows, there was a 50 minute increase over last week, and the five shows that aired both weeks saw a 30 minute increase over last week. Main Event provided half of that increase while Raw and Impact gave us a seven minute increase over last week.

With more wrestling, we got more matches and we returned into the thirty match range for the third time in the last four weeks. Raw and Smackdown provided us with half of the match this week, and when you add Impact to the mix, those seven hours of wrestling provided us with seventy percent of the matches. This makes sense when you consider that those three shows provided us with seventy percent of the wrestling this week.

The seven ten minute matches this week was the highest total in seven weeks. The first three shows to air this week provided us with six of the seven ten minute matches. Since we did not get a one minute match from Raw, they stay at 199 total, but we did get our 420th one minute match from WWE when NXT gave us a one minute match this week. Two more one minute matches will give us 500 total.

With similar totals next week, we will pass 36.000 minutes of wrestling, but it is likely we will have to wait until the following week to hit that mark. Main Event passed 2,200 minutes while Impact passed 6,500 minutes. We also got to the 4,800 match mark from the WWE. Raw passed the 600 hour mark this week.

The times for the participants in the Knockouts Battle Royal on Impact were:
Brittany: 3 Minutes
Velvet Sky: 6 Minutes
Angelina Love: 4 Minutes
Rebel: 4 Minutes
Madison Rayne: 2 Minutes
Taryn Terrell: 2 Minutes
Havok: 6 Minutes

Ring of Honor presented another Road Rage episode that does not qualify as a ‘Television Taping’ for purposes of this column. The matches on this week’s show were:
Frankie Kazarian and Christopher Daniels versus Michael Bennett and Adam Cole: 11 Minutes
Silas Young versus Michael Elgin: 18 Minutes

The wrestling times below cover the wrestling that takes place during the show so commercials are not included. All times are rounded to the closest minute (examples: a 4:23 match will be listed as 4 minutes while a 4:32 match will be listed as 5 minutes and anything under a minute is rounded up to a minute).
