JIM CORNETTE DUMPSTER DIVING?, KENTA A HEYMAN GUY?, THAT EVIL DENTIST AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2014-09-18 10:00:11
Does WWE having NXT talent on Raw and Main Event in the last week mean anything more than an advertisement for Takeover 2? I'd love to see something like 1 or 2 matches a month promoting NXT talent.

It's quite possible it will. A number of NXT talents are booked for Raw and Smackdown tapings over the next month and yesterday, we learned that several NXT talents will be included in WWE 2K15, so obviously, WWE is trying to raise the profile of the overall brand.

Do you see Kenta being a future Paul Heyman guy when going to the main roster? Like Lesnar, Heyman can be the talker/advocate while Kenta brings the action. Could be a good team. Thanks for all you do on the site! Good questions on the conference call with HHH, as well. You represent us subscribers well. Also liked your rant on RAW a couple weeks back.

Thanks for the kind words. KENTA having a mouthpiece would probably suit him well and I don't think you will find anyone stronger than Paul Heyman these days, so I'd love to see it personally. Whether that actually happens or not, I don't know.

Since Undertaker obviously isn't wrestling anytime soon, why don't they put him in a movie?

That's actually an interesting idea. Obviously, it would have to be something that WWE and Taker were both interested in doing. A few years ago, they were trying to develop what would have been an Undertaker origin story set in the Old West, but it never got off the ground. Still, you have an interesting idea.

Who was the evil dentist in WWF? I'm watching him on the Network and can't place him.

It was none other than the future Kane.

Is it true Jim Cornette once rescued a bunch of NWA footage from a garbage dump? I saw this online and wasn't sure what to make of it. Who would be so stupid to actually throw out masters and then of course the idea of Cornette dumpster diving is so wild it makes me laugh - so what's the deal here?

There are some elements of truth out there. As far as who was stupid enough, well, it was Turner Broadcasting. As the legend goes, when Turner came to clean out the old Jim Crockett Promotions office, they left behind a bunch of old 8 mm film reels that were material shot of Crockett house shows. Why? Well, it was Turner Broadcasting and they did dumb things sometimes. Cornette had instructed the janitor that if anything was left behind, to call him and Cornette took the materials for his own archives as opposed to just letting it get thrown out. He later paid to have the materials transferred to VHS and some of that material eventually floated out among collectors - but Cornette wasn't "dumpster diving" as much as he was protecting the history of something he truly loves.
