MORE LUCHA UNDERGROUND SPOILER NOTES

By Mike Johnson on 2014-09-07 16:18:57
Some additional notes on Lucha Underground:

*Dorian Roldan of AAA went on Twitter inviting fans to tonight's taping, noting it would be held at 516 S. Anderson Street in Los Angeles. To the best of my knowledge, that was the first attempt at bringing in traditional Lucha fans to the tapings.

*A source noted that AAA stars Drago, Fenix Jr. and Pentagon Jr. were not at last night's taping in Los Angeles and are not scheduled for tonight as their work visas did not come in on time for them to work the taping. That required some re-writes of the first episode last night.

*The wrestling styles was described to me as "WWE style" in the ring, as opposed to a traditional Lucha style. Chavo Guerrero, who was working as an agent last night, was said to be telling wrestlers to do less and make it mean more.

*The former John Morrison worked the taping under the ring name "Johnny Mundo." WWE obviously owns the Morrison name. Morrison vs. Prince Puma (Ricochet) was said to have been the highlight of the taping from an in-ring standpoint.

*Ricky Banderas (Mesias in TNA) worked under a mask under the ring name Mil Muertes. I believe he had the former Maxine from WWE working as his manager.

*The referees working the taping were Rick Knox of PWG & CWFH, Justin Borden of Championship Wrestling from Hollywood TV and former WWE Referee Marty Elias.

*The female ring announcer was Melissa Santos, who was cast as La Nina in the David McLane WOW reboot that did some live events on the West Coast and has been trying to find a TV partner for some time.

*Magnificent Martin's (Martin Casaus from the last season of Tough Enough) was another WOW talent from the most recent reboot who worked as Kitty Meow.
