ROH IN PHILLY ROYAL RUMBLE WEEKEND, FORMER ROH CHAMP BACKSTAGE IN CHICAGO, CONTRACTS AND MORE: LOTS OF RING OF HONOR NEWS AND NOTES

By Mike Johnson on 2014-08-25 19:10:53
Ring of Honor is in the process of signing some of their talents to new deals that would give the company the right of exclusivity in that talents could still work indy dates elsewhere but the promotion would have to approve the dates. This has been going on for a few weeks. The idea behind it would be that if ROH is going to run NYC for example, they could make sure that their talents aren't working NYC indy dates in the weeks leading up to the event. It actually makes sense from a business standpoint, although I can see there will be some disgruntled independent promoters. The reality is that if ROH can pay their talents enough to keep them exclusive and happy, that's a good thing for the ROH brand.

The ROH Chicago Ridge, IL Death Before Dishonor event drew just short of 900 paid. Milwaukee drew over 600 fans and was a turn-away sellout.

Former ROH champion Austin Aries was visiting backstage at the Chicago show and watched most of the matches.

The Tomasso Ciampa suspension is obviously storyline.

ROH TV champ Jay Lethal vs. ACH has been added to the 96 All Star Extravaganza iPPV in Toronto, Ontario.

Ring of Honor is running the National Guard Armory in Philadelphia on Saturday 1/24, the night before the WWE Royal Rumble in the same city.

ROH will also be running the San Francisco/San Jose area Wrestlemania weekend.

Andrew Sanford sent word that ROH owner Sinclair Broadcast Group is in the process of buying Providence, RI station WJAR channel 10, according to The Providence Journal.
