Wrestling Legend Brian Blair set to return to the ring against Matt Riviera at the final Mid Atlantic Wrestling Legends Fanfest Sunday August 3rd
Charlotte, NC – Today it was announced that a match between wrestling legend Brian Blair and Matt Riviera of “The Empire” has been added to the card for the Sunday August 3rd wrestling portion of the Mid Atlantic Wrestling Legends Fanfest in Charlotte, NC.
The Mid Atlantic Wrestling Legends Fanfest is scheduled to take place from Thursday July 31st through Sunday August 3rd at the Hilton University Place in Charlotte, NC. It has been announced that after ten years that this will be the last Mid Atlantic Wrestling Legends Fanfest. The wrestling matches scheduled for Sunday August 3rd at 4:00pm will be the conclusion of the weekend long event.
Brian Blair, a ring veteran of over 30 years, will be meeting in the ring the leader of the next generation of wrestlers - 27 year old Matt Riviera. Blair out of Tampa, FL is most well known for his run as one half of the popular tag team the Killer Bees at WWF in the 1980’s where he teamed up with Jumpin’ Jim Brunzell. Since his days with the Killer Bees, Blair has continued to wrestle on the independent scene in addition to his run in the political arena as a County Commissioner in Hillsborough County, FL (Tampa) while owning several Gold’s Gyms.
Matt Riviera, even at his age, is not a newcomer. Riviera has been around the wrestling industry since he was a teenager where he not only wrestled but also promoted many shows throughout the Mid South region of the United States. Trained by Squire David Taylor and Nature Boy Buddy Landel, Riviera recently defeated Blair at the 2014 Cauliflower Alley Club event in Las Vegas. Riviera has dedicated this match in Charlotte to Blair’s long time rival and heated advisory the Iron Sheik. “Even though the Iron Sheik cannot be in Charlotte I will humble Blair on his behalf,” stated Matt Riviera.
In addition to his experience in the ring and the leader of the wrestling faction “The Empire”, Riviera has also appeared on such reality shows as Bravo’s Millionaire Matchmaker and VH1’s Megan Wants a Millionaire where he was a contestant vying for the love of Rock of Love Star Megan Hauserman. Riviera’s cinematic talents have also been showcased in three movies (Blood Forest, Step Away from The Stone and Happy Hour).
