NEW WWE TITLE BELT TO GO WITH THE NEW LOGO?, VINCE SAYING HE NEVER WANTED TO HURT OTHER COMPANIES, JOHNNY GRUNGE AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2014-07-11 10:00:00
At the 1990 WWE Survivor Series, The Million Dollar Team (Ted DiBiase, The Undertaker, & Rhythm & Blues (The Honky Tonk Man & Greg Valentine) (with Virgil, Jimmy Hart, and Brother Love) faced off against The Dream Team (Dusty Rhodes, Koko B. Ware, & The Hart Foundation (Bret Hart & Jim Neidhart). Of course, the match ended with Ted DiBiase eliminating Bret Hart. Now, right after the 3 count, Bret Hart immediately sat up & said the "F" bomb, was that planned? Since wrestling is predetermined, why would Bret say that if he knew the outcome? I guess Vince McMahon was okay with it?

Bret was selling the frustration of the loss. I have no idea whether Vince McMahon was OK with it and I doubt he would remember all these years later if we asked him.

My question for the Q&A section concerns the use of two title belts for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Is it possible that WWE are waiting for the change over to the new logo around SummerSlam and then revealing a new title design? It wouldn't seem to make much sense in having one logo for the organisation, but an old one on their no. 1 championship.

It's possible but we haven't heard of WWE ordering a new championship belt design. That doesn't mean they haven't - it just means we haven't heard of it yet.

I was wondering what you thought about Vince McMahon saying that he believes in helping himself instead of hurting the other guy on the Monday Night War when speaking in regard to Bischoff giving away taped results, when shortly after he signed away the world and tag champions away from ECW right before they became true competition with their TNN show.

I think that like everyone else, Vince probably never thought much about what his decisions were doing to the opposition as much as he was trying to better his company. Why didn't he think about it? He was trying to win. When someone else started doing it to him, suddenly the shoe was on the other foot. That's human nature.

Do you think Santino Marella will be making the same retirement announcement on Raw?

It's possible WWE will acknowledge or even script a retirement announcement for Marella, but I think it's far more likely that he quietly segues into a non-wrestling comedy role on the shows.

I am watching old ECW on the Network and while Johnny Grunge is supposed to be a Hoodie, there's no way he's from an urban area with that accent - where was he from?

Michael "Johnny Grunge" Durham was originally from Louisiana before moving to New Jersey, where he broke into the business.
