WHY WWE NEEDS TO REALIZE IT'S 2014, GETTING TIME OFF IN WWE, OWEN HART IN THE HALL OF FAME AND MORE

What do you think the likelihood is of Owen Hart being inducted into Hall of Fame? Is the only obstacle basically his widow's ill feelings towards the company? If anyone should have been inducted from the HOF's inception, it should have been him. Also, why do you think Hart never got to taste heavyweight title gold? Was it the post-Montreal stigma? He was a magnificent athlete, had tons of charisma, and was great on promos.

Yep, at this point it's WWE not wanting to go against Martha Hart's wishes. I respect that. It would create bad publicity if they did it and she spoke out against it. As for Owen, he was an excellent worker for sure. I think two things worked against him being a top guy. One was his size, as he was smaller than top guys back then. Another was that it was pretty clear to the company that he didn't plan to wrestle all that much longer. He was looking to leave the business and go home. Also, it didn't help that his piledrive on Steve Austin injured Stone Cold.

AJ Lee requested and received an extended sabbatical– more than likely due to her being engaged/married to CM Punk– and I assume WWE gave her the time off to avoid any awkwardness due to Punk's situation. But in normal circumstances, what is the general policy WWE has for granting talent extended time off for a non-injury reason? I read that back in the day, Ricky Steamboat was canned after asking for time off when his kid was born. Has WWE relaxed its policy since then due to realizing that its employees are human beings with families and the need for R&R? Or is it reserved for certain tiers of the roster and others have to suck it up and honor their contracts?

Honestly, it depends on the person and the reason. WWE tends to be more willing to let people that are not in the focal points of storylines take time off. In AJ's case, she had passed the belt on to Paige so it was OK for her to go. If she was in the middle of a storyline arc and had the belt, I don't think it would have been so easy for her to get time off. So there is no hard and fast rule. With that said, everyone who works for WWE knows what they are getting into and if they are being pushed and ask for time off in the middle of it, the company frowns on (unless it's for a really, really good reason). I understand their position completely to be honest. They push you and they count on you to perform.

Long time reader, just a question regarding something I saw on Raw Monday night. I live in Canada and they were promoting some of the local shows during the commercial breaks as normal but I noticed that they're promoting a Kane v.s. Bryan match for the championships at their Kingston Ontario live show on July 9th, I'm assuming they aren't spoiling the main event of the MITB PPV, so are things like this getting through because it's too expensive to have the guy do another voice over/graphics splash or are they really expecting Bryan to be back in the ring under a week after missing MITB?

It happens more than you think. Either WWE doesn't send an updated graphic or a station just doesn't run one. I can't say who is at fault here, but yes it's not exactly great quality control at work there.

In regards to how John Cena's been booked, I once heard Dave Scherer say something like "It's 2014, not 1984." But then when you look at Rusev and Lana, isn't that right out of the 80's? Couldn't you argue that Kane and the Wyatts still get some "supernatural" elements to their characters? And because of that, could it not be said that Vince McMahon only goes modern when he feels like it, and prefers to book Cena like he's Hulk Hogan or some other 80's era babyface?

There is no doubt in my mind that Vince prefers to book like it's the 80s again. It's what he has always been comfortable with, over the top babyfaces, B movie stereotypical heels, etc. That is why I said it's 2014 now. It's time to update the process so that it reflects the way society has changed in the last 30 years. What Vince likes still works to a degree, don't get me wrong, but if he updated his vision to reflect the way people are now, and what they want to see now, I think that he would see a big upturn in business.

Have you ever, personally, seen the "contracts" that are signed on the air? Do they go through the trouble of actually including legal jargon, or is it all just gibberish on the pages?

There have definitely been both over the course of time. Obviously, even the ones that look real are not.
