END OF THE ROSEBUDS?, CAN WE DROP THE ECW STUFF ALREADY, WHY SLATER WAS LAST 3MB STANDING AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2014-06-19 10:00:57
Why was Heath Slater kept when the other members of3MB were released?

I haven't heard a reason, but they did just announce he had his first child, so they would have looked extremely evil firing him so soon after that. I think it probably just came down to numbers and he wasn't on the side of the margin that needed to be cut. The entire situation is unfortunate.

I saw online that WWE is not flying in Rosebuds anymore. Is that the beginning of the end of Adam Rose?

No, because they were never flying the Rosebuds in anyway. What WAS happening is that the NXT talents that were appearing as Rosebuds were driving up in a van rented by the company to WWE TVs. I was told it was not something they were being paid for beyond their usual NXT salary, but WWE handled the road expenses. When they are in areas where the Rosebuds can drive in, they will use them and when not, they will use local indy talents, as they did this week.

Do you ever get tired of the ECW retreads? Shane Douglas vs. Pitbull at the Arena? Tommy Dreamer and his Hordes of Hardcore on TNA? Enough of this sh**!

I see your point, but neither of those situations are meant to play off of the ECW name. Douglas vs. Wolf was booked in the former ECW Arena, but lots of shows that have nothing to do with ECW run there. They played off their history, but if you booked Brutus Beefcake vs. Greg Valentine on the same show, they would play off of their history as well. The Dreamer stuff has nothing to do with ECW but with his own indy promotion, which does feature some former ECW talent but rebuilding ECW isn't the goal there. Dreamer walked away from doing ECW reunion type shows in 2010 and has turned down bookings that would have seen him on those style shows since. But, you can't knock guys for playing off the legacies they built and earned. That's like claiming Ric Flair should never reference the Four Horsemen ever again. I think there is a world of difference between what you referenced and say, Extreme Rising, unless you are going to say that everything any former ECW guy does is just ripping off ECW, to which I say, well, it's what brought them to the dance, so why wouldn't they continue to reflect it?

Where's Nick Bockwinkel these days?

Nick lives in Las Vegas and occasionally does convention signings.

Whatever happened to old WWF lower card talent Jerry Allen?

Updated - Several readers sent along that Jerry Allen passed away in 1995 of a heart attack. He was only 32.
