TURNING DIXIE BABYFACE, RAISING THE WWE NETWORK PRICE, PUNK AND WWE & MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2014-05-29 10:00:00
Have you heard anything about CM Punk possibly returning at Payback this month? Has there been any contact between the two side as of late?

WWE sources claim there has been little to no communication with Punk since he walked out. I don't see it happening.

I’ve tried hard to support TNA from the time they debuted on Spike TV. The most fun I have had at live events have been TNA shows. But I have a hard time watching Impact these days. Some of the creative work reminds me more of Dave Sullivan than Vince Russo. Anyway, on to the question. MVP turns heel (way too quick in my opinion), Dixie is coming back to confront the new stable. Are we looking at a “Dixie saves TNA” face turn from her?

I really hope not. The last thing TNA needs is another storyline over "the power" of the company, especially since the focus needs to be on the wrestlers and what's going on in the ring, something they haven't done a good job of in a long time.

If you booked for WWE, how would you use Prince Devitt now that he's officially signed?

I'd have him win a King of the Ring tournament, shocking everyone and be the new "King" of wrestling.

Do you think Vince McMahon's propensity for overblown business estimates comes from his history as a promoter? He is used to an audience that takes his larger than life promotion style for what it is, showmanship. When it comes to realistically setting investor expectations he continually over-estimates potential gains causing investors to not consider WWE a stable investment. Would WWE be better served with a different public face when it comes to dealing with Wallstreet? I'd have to think that after the TV deal gaffe and over-estimates of the network's profitabilty vs. the traditional PPV delivery method that investors just won't be putting much faith in his claims going forward.

I think it came from Vince being completely confident that they would get what he believed in - WWE getting at least double their television rights fees for the United States. I think that the stock will eventually settle itself out and things will be right back to normal.

Do you envision a price increase for new network subscribers a la Netflix or possibly a deal where a monthly subscription costs more than paying several months in advance like Sony and Microsoft ise for their premium online services?

I think we'll absolutely see both down the line. In reality, $9.99 a month for the Network is a steal. I can't speak for everyone that orders it, but I would feel the same if they were charging $20 a month. There's no doubt in my mind it will go up at some point.
