WHY CENA WAS ON MAIN EVENT & NOT RAW, NETWORK EXEC DEPARTS AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2014-05-08 10:32:17
As I noted in PWInsider Elite on Monday, WWE purposely held John Cena off Raw and booked him for Main Event as a way to raise the profile of the series and WWE Network. The company's top goal right now (as you might guess based on the current campaign offering $25 gift certificates to WWEShop to those who are referring sign-ups) is to get the subscriptions up.

Speaking of the referrals, if you would like one so you can receive a $25 gift certificate with your Network sub, email me at MikeJohnsonPWInsider@gmail.comand I'll send you one over.

WWE's Executive Vice President of Programming, Matthew Singerman, who was hired in November 2013 and was involved in pretty much all the programming and scheduling decisions for the Network, is gone from the company. The belief is that it was a Vince McMahon decision.

There are already plans for another WWE Legends House episode. I am told the company is very happy with the streaming numbers for the series that that they may shoot the second season in Florida.

The Saturday Night's Main Event episodes (as well as prime-time Main Event specials) should be up on the Network by July.

The Monday Night War series is expected to debut around the same timeframe. WWE is also looking at adding the old WWE 24/7 Hall of Fame profile specials to the Network's HOF section later this year as well.
