WHO'S WORKED EVERY WRESTLEMANIA, ALEXANDER RUSEV, WHY THE TNA TV TITLE STILL EXISTS AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2014-05-02 10:00:00
Whatever happened to TNA's Motor City Machine Guns?

Alex Shelley works for New Japan Pro Wrestling. Chris Sabin is about to depart TNA for the independent scene.

Long time caller, first time listener. My question is about Alexander Rusev. Does WWE have big plans for him? I like what I see in him (although his manager makes me think of the cheesy 80's WWF). He's been impressive, even if it's a little early in his run. However, I don't know what his wrestling background and style is (i.e., is he just a very strong guy, who has little background in wrestling? Is he big but not really athletic? Is he able to wrestle in a match and actually be worthwhile?). I like the idea of big guys fighting each other (that came out wrong), as long as both of them can actually carry on an entertaining match against each other. Do you think he could eventually be in main event style matches against the likes of Cena, Daniels or maybe even a match with Brock Lesnar?

WWE likes him, or else he wouldn’t be on the main roster. It’s too early to see what their long-term plans are but they are still at the point where they are establishing him as a personality.

It's probably a stupid question but why does TNA continue to list Abyss as the Television Champion if they don't acknowledge the championship?

It’s TNA. I don’t have a better explanation, sorry!

Visa promoted the "Never Miss a Super Bowl Club" a few years ago, with 4 guys who had been to every Super Bowl. One of them died in 2011. On a recent Steve Austin Podcast, Lita mentioned that Gerald Brisco was at his 30th Wrestlemania. Other than Brisco and Vince, who else is in the "Never Miss a Wrestlemania Club"? And how many have Dave and Mike attended?

I believe Pat Patterson and Howard Finkel have worked every Wrestlemania as well. Howard is the only one that appeared on camera on every Mania. There are probably lots of backstage and production types as well.

Mike here - I attended Wrestlemania 10 and 11 as a fan and I’ve been at every Wrestlemania from 17 on, covering them as a writer.

Dave here - I attended Wrestlemania 15 in Philly live.

When Stephanie/HHH eventually take over WWE, do you see them scaling back the number of live events. Their current touring schedule is insane. I think the schedule should be Sunday-Tuesday most weeks and sparingly have Saturday-Tuesday weeks.

No, not unless they can derive similar or better revenue from other sources. The schedule is nowhere near as insane as it was in the 1980s, by the way.
