ERIC YOUNG TITLE WIN THOUGHTS, LOW KI, DREAMER, FORMER TNA CHAMPION LEAVING AND MORE TNA NEWS

By Mike Johnson on 2014-04-14 15:39:49
TNA is promoting the return of Low Ki on their website pretty heavily, which certainly makes you think they are in the process of signing him to a deal and having him as a regular on TV. Having him certainly boosts the in-ring match quality.

As I noted in the Elite section last week, Chris Sabin's last scheduled appearance for the company was this past weekend at the One Night Only: Xtravaganza PPV. I was told he was offered a new deal but they didn't come to terms. Unless something changed in the last 24 hours, that's a pretty quiet departure for the former TNA champion.

Former WWE developmental talent Kenneth Cameron worked a dark match over the weekend for TNA. He was released from WWE in 2012 after being charged with disorderly intoxication and battery of a police officer. Cameron was a member of The Ascension during his WWE developmental run and had a good look. One would think that EC3 would be a good conduit for former WWE developmental talents who can go but ended up on the outs for whatever reason that could add to TNA's product.

I finally had a chance to watch the Eric Young title win. I want to make it clear that I think Young has been a hard working guy for the company and it's great to see him get this nod. That said, while the episode was fun, to move him to that level so quickly after so many years of being the undercard comedy guy is probably too much too soon and I can see that hurting the move. I also think that coming off of the Daniel Bryan WWE title win, I can understand why people are saying this was a knockoff of that and whether TNA wanted to be seen that way or not, it's always going to hurt being seen as doing a similar storyline that just took place. TNA doing this title change over two hours instead of over a few weeks of TV really hurt as well, as they are more and more falling into the "fast forward" mentality that Vince Russo often had in the past while writing TV.

Tommy Dreamer was working as an agent at the TV tapings over the weekend. Give they are running NYC, it should be interesting to see if they move Dreamer into a wrestling role as he'd certainly help the draw at the Manhattan Center.

TNA is running the Carolinas this weekend with shows on 4/17 in Florence, SC at the Florence Civic Center, 4/18 in Concord, NC at the Cabarrus Arena & Event Center and 4/19 in Winston-Salem, NC at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds Annex, featuring:

*Tables Match: Bully Ray vs. Bobby Roode

*TNA Tag Team champions The BroMans vs. The Wolves.

*TNA Knockouts champion Madison Rayne vs. Gail Kim

*Magnus vs. Samoa Joe

*Ethan Carter III vs. Mr. Anderson

*James Storm vs. Gunner
