THE FIRST ECW ORIGINAL IN THE WWE HOF, WHY LAWLER WRESTLES BUT NOT IN WWE AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2014-04-04 10:00:00
My question regards the wwe hof. Many people say that Chris benoit should not be in the hof because of what he did but this year they are inducting Carlos colon. There's been speculation that he had a part in bruiser brody death. So should he be honored?

Colon was never charged in the murder of Bruiser Brody. Jose "Invader 1" Gonzales was and he was acquitted of the murder. Whether anyone likes that or not (and as Brody fan, obviously I'd like to know that someone paid for his killing), legally, Gonzales was in the clear. Even if there are rumors and innuendo, there's no hard proof Colon was ever involved in the murder by anyone, even those who were there on the Island when it happened and have spoken publicly about it. WWE is honoring Colon for his long career and for being the face of wrestling in Puerto Rico for many, many decades. I think this is an entirely different situation than the Chris Benoit issue, where there is no doubt that he was criminally responsible for the murder of his wife and son before taking his own life.

Do you ever think we'll see the day where Jim Cornette goes into the WWE Hall of Fame?

In a world where The Ultimate Warrior and Bruno Sammartino have been inducted in the last few years, I'd say that at some point, Cornette will be in the Hall. Time heals all wounds and money, well, that helps a lot too,

Why is Jerry Lawler still wrestling on the independents but not in WWE?

I think what it comes down to is that Lawler's doctor has cleared him to wrestle but WWE's doctors will not. So, as long as Lawler has a deal where he can still wrestling outside of his WWE commitments, he will.

Who do you think will be the first ECW Original to go into the WWE Hall of Fame? I know that Terry Funk and Lita are in, but Funk was more honored for everything he did over the years and Lita is more for what she did in WWE - so who will be the first homegrown ECW talent in there?

Paul Heyman has to go in before anyone else. He was ECW in many ways. Now, he should also be honored for what he did outside of ECW as well, so I'm not sure if he's disqualified under your criteria. If you mean someone who's first national recognition was within ECW, it should be Tommy Dreamer, Taz and The Dudley Boyz, in that order, as I don't see WWE honored Sabu anytime soon as RVD is still an active member of the roster.

I was curious who handles the WWE routing of house show tours. I notice they often run the same venues/markets around the same time frame each visit. Is that by design?

More or less. They have an entire staff who work on the routing of live events and work with the venues and with local promoting to plan out the travel, marketing and execution of the tours, the same as any other touring entity does.
