UPDATE ON WWE PROGRAMMING AND PPVS IN GERMANY

By Mike Johnson on 2014-03-13 07:58:00
Wrestlemania 30 will be the final WWE PPV to broadcast on Sky in Germany as WWE moves on to a new TV deal in the country with the ProSieben/Sat1 Group. WrestleMania 30 will air on Sky Select as the final WWE broadcast on Sky, the end of a twelve year broadcast partnership which brought the country live WWE PPVs as well as live Raw broadcasts and Smackdown broadcasts. ProSieben/Sat1 has already announced that three weeks after Wrestlemania, the event will be available on online VOD provider Maxdome. The price for the VOD has not yet been announced.

PPVs will air live on Maxdome going forward after Wrestlemania with a VOD version added three weeks later. Pricing has not been announced.

Here is where WWE programming stands in Germany after the Sky departure. Smackdown will have its final broadcast on Sky on 3/31, then return to free TV in Germany on Saturday 4/5. The series will air on Saturdays at 11 PM on ProSieben Maxx, a new male-oriented channel (think a German SpikeTV).

Going forward the three hour version of Raw, Smackdown replays and WWE NXT will be broadcast on ProSieben FUN (which already airs WWE Superstars), a paid cable channel. A two hour version of Raw will air on TELE-5.

WWE highlights will also air on MyVideo.de (a German website similar to YouTube) on a WWE-branded channel.
