Immediately after Paul Heyman promo, it appeared the Chicago fans were a little spent, but they woke back up again. We could not hear one Titantron segment because the crowd was so loud. There were "We want Punk" and "CM Punk" chants all night long and that did not come through on the broadcast from what I could see.
In some spots, the crowd was so ready to "hijack" the show that there were competing chants which resulted in just a wall of noise.
On TV, the Divas match and the Emma/Santino/Fandango match seemed dead, but they chanted all the way through it. You could hear the crowd during the Sheamus/Christian match, but nowhere near to how loud it was in the arena. Amusingly, there was a loud Scooby-Doo chant after they showed the trailer for the cartoon.
The Heyman promo and the Daniel Bryan/Stephanie/HHH segment came close to sounding what it sounded like live, but from what I could tell it sounded like we were being muted, or at least poorly mic'ed throughout the rest of the show. We LITERALLY could not hear what Stephanie or HHH were saying because of the boos, I had to watch the DVR replay to find out what they actually said. The crowd also completely rejected the proposed DB/HHH Mania match with even a "Title Match" chant that started. It was brief and didn't catch on for a sustained period, but it was there.
John Cena got the expected reaction. Little kids loved him but the adults drowned them out with their boos and "CM Punk" chants. Any time they showed Aaron Paul, there were actually some boos (not a lot, but they were there), but there were a lot of "We Want Ziggler" chants throughout the night, so when he came out with Ziggler he got a pop and a "Jessie Pinkman" chant. Again, that "Jessie Pinkman" chant was nowhere near as loud as it was live.
On the positive side, Daniel Bryan, The Shield, The Wyatts, Ziggler and Cesaro were super over and they popped for the Tag Title win for the Usos. HHH, Steph, Batista, The Outlaws (after they refused to do their intro), Los Matadores (on Superstars) and Big Show (when he came out when they were chanting for Punk) were all booed out of the building.
As for post-show results, there was no match. The heels all stood over Daniel Bryan triumphant. Triple H instructed them to finish him off when out came Big Show for the save, followed by a limping John Cena. Orton was left alone in the ring with the babyfaces. Orton tried to weasel his way out of a beat down, but the babyfaces each took a turn taking a shot at him. I think this was their way to "Send the crowd home happy" but after the Bryan beat down and the Punk no-show the crowd was pretty deflated.
A LOT of disappointed fans in the hallways of the AllState Arena and parking lot that Punk did not show.
They announced a return in June for the Payback PPV.
