BAD NEWS IF YOU OWN AN OLDER ROKU DEVICE AND WANT TO STREAM THE WWE NETWORK

By Mike Johnson on 2014-02-22 12:47:31
In speaking with a Roku representative, I was told that older Roku devices will not be carrying the WWE Network.

According to the rep I spoke with, the only Roku devices which will be "compatible" with the WWE Network are the Roku LT, Roku 1, Roku 2 and Roku 3. I am told that only players with Roku software versions 5.3 or greater can add the WWE Network.

If you own an older device you will not be able to stream the Network. What is odd about this is that WWE specifically mentioned "older Roku devices" would be able to stream the Network in the video they produced with the Bellas.

Our old friend Chris Lisanti reached out and noted that the WWE Network is available on his Roku XD, so it appears some older devices ARE supporting the Network, but based on what Roku has told me, not all will be - so if you have an older device, you may want to check for yourself, as you may need to upgrade if you want the Network when it launches Monday.

We've reached out to WWE. When we hear back, we'll update.
