TONS OF RING OF HONOR NEWS AND NOTES

By Mike Johnson on 2014-02-12 09:09:11
Ring of Honor will celebrate it's 12th Anniversary on 2/21 with a big show at the National Guard Armory in Philadelphia, PA featuring ROH champion Adam Cole vs. Chris Hero, AJ Styles vs. Jay Lethal, Matt Hardy vs. Michael Elgin and ROH TV champion Tomasso Ciampa vs. Hanson, who won the Top Prospect Tournament. ROH Tag Team champions ReDragon will defend against ACH and Tadarious Thomas as well. That's a really strong lineup.

On Saturday 2/22, the promotion will present it's first ever Honorcon, featuring a convention followed by a special announcement from ROH's Joe Koff as well as a Q&A Session with the ROH roster.

In regard to the announcement, I am told that it's something that will really excite the ROH audience. I know that a few months back, they were looking into announcing their own Hall of Fame, but this announcement is not that. Honorcon will be free to the public, although autographs, etc. will not be. The promotion is selling a VIP ticket that will cover all photos and autographs for fans at www.ROHWrestling.com.

On Saturday 2/22 evening, the promotion will hold a TV Taping with AJ Styles vs. Michael Elgin for the first time ever already announced. That could be pretty epic.

The promotion announced a 11/15 return to San Antonio, Texas. The debut show drew 800-850 paid, so the promotion was really happy about the turnout.

The Young Bucks were announced as challenging ROH Tag Team champions ReDragon on 3/8 in Chicago, but until Matt Jackson gets his hand repaired, that has to be considered iffy right now. The Bucks are also on 3/7 in Milwaukee.

We are told there are big plans for the 5/10 Toronto return.

No word yet on a return appearance for Paul London. I was really hoping we'd be London and AJ Styles reprise their old rivalry here.

Scarlet Bordeaux, who has appeared here as one of the Hoopla Hotties, noted on Facebook that her image is being used on a fake dating profile in an attempt to "catfish" unsuspecting males.

ROH has released a "Tribute to Philly" wrestling, which is a ROH shirt designed to look like the old ECW Join the Revolution t-shirt. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that Jeff Jones was the point person on that idea. You can order it now at www.rohwrestling.com.

Roderick Strong will be back in the ring as soon as doctors clear him. Until then, he'll be a regular fixture at the shows with The Decade.

Chris Hero is booked on 3/7 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and 3/8 in Chicago Ridge, IL.
