NATIONAL PRO WRESTLING DAY 2 RESULTS FROM PALMER, PA

By Mike Johnson on 2014-02-01 20:59:57
The second annual National Pro Wrestling Day was held on 2/1 in Palmer, PA at the Rec Center before a crowd of 600. Admission was free, although donations were taken for a Malaria charity with the event receiving over $5,000 in donations between online fans and those in attendance. The show was also streamed live on Youtube.

It was a fun show with the idea of independent wrestling being a community of like-minded people who love pro wrestling being pushed throughout the event. Truth be told, it was a fun show with a lot of hard working wrestlers - and it was free, so before you walked in the door, you were already getting more than your money's worth.

Quick results:

*Colt Cabana beat Drew Gulak in a Best of Three Falls bout. Gulak forced Cabana to tap to a Dragon Sleeper in the first fall. Cabana used the Billy Goat’s Curse to even the falls up. The third fall saw Cabana use a Camel Clutch type move for the win. Lots of World of Sport inspired mat action here and they had about 15 minutes, so it was well executed with time to develop.

*The Baltic Seige (The Estonian Thunderfrog & The Lithuanian Snow Troll & The Latvian Proud Oak) defeated The Bloc Party (Brown Morning of Belarus & Proletariat Boar of Moldova & Mr. Azerbaijan) in a fun six man tag with lots of comedy spots and dives. At one point, the Boar speared The Troll as he was preparing for a springboard, sending them onto everyone else on the floor. The villains attacked the hero but the Thunderfrog returned with a giant hammer (think Thor, God of Thunder) and came off the top onto one of them and the "force" was so big that it made three referees and other villains bump up and out of the ring.

*Colt Cabana returned to name Mike Burns of SmartMarkVideo.com as the 2014 Ambassador to Independent Wrestling for all he and his company have done to bring indy wrestling to fans and to help the careers of wrestlers by showcasing different promotions. He was an extremely worthy choice. Burns is a great guy who's done a lot of help a ton of people over the years and was also the booker during what I feel was one of the better CZW eras.

*Hallowicked defeated Mike Bennett with the Chikara Special in a good match.

*Dasher Hatfield defeated Eddie Kingston with an inside cradle. Kingston was playing complete heel and at one point, threatened to punch each member of a group of children in the face. One of the kids charged him and kicked him and Kingston ran off. That was hilarious.

*Eric Corvis defeated Sonjay Dutt after Dutt missed a moonsault into a double stomp and Corvis rolled him up. Good match with some really nice Dutt aerial moves.

*Shynron defeated Juan Francisco de Coronado with a second rope 630 in a good match.

We then had the big CHIKARA return angle I wrote about earlier on the site. It was quite the sight to see.

They then added a special added main event with The Colony & The Osirian Portal & Icarus defeating The Batiri & Los Ice Creams when Icarus submits El Hijo de Ice Cream with the CHIKARA Special. The crowd was super hot for this.

Overall, a fun few hours of wrestling.

Notes: Maria Kanellis was used as a correspondent to promote the charity drive....Cary Silkin and Barbed Wire City director John Philapavage were in attendance.
