World Wrestling League (WWL)

The World Wrestling League has announced today that former WWE performer “Sin Cara” has just signed with the promotion.  WWL’s president Richard Negrin stated that “it is an honor and a priviledge to present our newest World Wrestling League’s talent, one of the most exciting Mexican “lucha libre” performers around the world: the original SIN CARA!  Welcome to your home, the WWL.

Earlier in the week, WWL held a press conference in Mexico to talk about their scheduled “Dream Matches Tour” in March.  The following is a press release regarding what happened during the conference:

WWL Announces México Dates During Press Conference

(México, Distrito Federal, Thursday - January 30th, 2014) – World Wrestling League returns to Mexico with an intense tour in which they will visit the cities of Xalapa, Veracruz; Teziutlán, Puebla and Mexico D.F.  “El Domo del Plan Sexanal” has already been designated as site for the center of the Republic on Sunday March 9th and in order to reveal the card for that evening’s event WWL’s president, Richard Negrin, called for a press conference at the “Taqueria de Chabelo”, where he would also discuss two more dates set for the tour: Friday March 7th at the “Arena Xalapa” in Veracruz and Saturday March 8th at the “Plaza de Toros El Pinal” in Teziutlán-Puebla.  These three cities will experience what the WWL Empire is all about.

The announced card is highlighted by a match where Blue Demon Jr. will battle Monster Pain in his quest to capture the coveted WWL World Title.  During the press conference, the heir of “El Manotas", seemed confident and determined to take possession of the WWL title from Monster Pain, stating that he feels ready to because of the challenges he has faced in the past where he wrestled “Big Daddy V” and emerged victorious.  He stated that “with Pain it should not be different and I will become WWL’s World champion”.  He completely ignored the statement sent via video by Misstres Glenda Lee that was presented at the Press Conference, where she referred to “El Demonio Azul” as, 'Chaparrito'.

The following is the full card that will be presented on Sunday March 9th, with a bell time of 5:00PM at “El Domo del Plan Sexanal” in Mexico DF:

  • Sabu vs Mosco X-Fly

  • “Los Mamitos” (c) vs Psicodélico Jr. & El Hijo de Dos Caras for the WWL World Tag Team Titles

  • Skyde, Vengador Radioactivo & a partner to be announced vs Astro Rey, Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. & El Hijo del Medico Asesino

  • Ladies in Action: Paloma Rouse vs an opponent to be annouunced soon

  • Blue Demon vs Monster Pain (c) for the WWL World Title

  • Carlito & Chavo Guerrero vs Juventud Guerrera & Ricky Marvin

WWL president Richard Negrin stated during the press conference that he is very pleased with this card, and he plans to continue to bring innovative events to Mexico with wrestling from around the world; and he is certain that the Mexican fans will be very open and attentive to everything WWL does in "Tierra Azteca".  In return he received the aggressions of the Corp. Clown.  What started out as verbal attacks, soon turned into the shocking ending to this press conference, right in the middle of threats and shoving on the part of all participants of this WWL Empire invasion, leaving everything red hot for WWL’s 3 dates in Mexico.

World Wrestling Council (WWC)

The World Wrestling Council held their last house show/TV taping last Sunday 1/19/14 at the “Pepin Cestero Arena” in Bayamon, PR.  The following are the quick results and some information about the angles that took place to start the new storylines that will carry them into their next big event “La Hora De La Verdad” (Moment of Truth).

  1. Samuel Adams defeated Cyrus.

  2. David Montes defeated Richard Ramos.

  3. AJ Castillo became the new WWC Jr Heavyweight champion after he defeated Syler Andrews.

  4. “Face of Fear” ASH defeated “Tough Man” Andy Leavine.

  5. Mike Mendoza defeated El Diabólico. After the match, El Diabólico attacked Mendoza with a belt.  This has been a very intriguing feud with some good matches.  It looks like we will get at least one more match in this one.

  6. Chicano & Xix Xavant retained the WWC World Tag Team titles after they defeated Thunder & Lightning.  There was a controversial finish to the match.  The ref counted the pin, but Lightning was covering Xavant and Chicano was covering Thunder.  The referee determined that Chicano and Thunder were the legal men in the ring and declared Chicano & Xavant winners.  T&L were not happy with the decision and attacked the champions, taking the down with individual spears.

  7. Gilbert becomes the new WWC Puerto Rico Heavyweight champion after defeating Apolo in another controversial finish.  During the ref’s count, Apolo had his boot on the ropes but Chaparro, who had interferred at different instances during the match, pushed it off the rope as the ref finish the pin.  In an angle taped for TV, the commissioners decided to return the belt to Apolo in the locker room due to Chaparro’s interference.

  8. T.N.T. recaptured the WWC Universal title after he defeated Mighty Ursus.  The end of the match happens when Ursus  holds T.N.T. for his manager, Ortega, to throw powder on his face, but T.N.T. gets out of the way and Ursus receives the powder himself.  He then turns only to receive the “pain killer” sidekick from T.N.T. for the pin.  After the match, Ursus pushed his manager and argued with him.  He then returns to the locker room, leaving Ortega in the ring by himself.

  9. Carlito Caribbean Cool defeated Invader #1 via DQ due to ASH’s interference.  Carlito then starts to brawl with ASH in the ring.  Invader decides to head back to the locker room, only to find T.N.T. waiting for him at the entranceway.  They both return to the ring and as he is followed by T.N.T.  Once in the ring T.N.T. & Carlito agree to charge the heels but T.N.T. hits the “pain killer” sidekick on Carlito out of nowhere and joins Invader and ASH attacking Carlito.  A few babyfaces try to make the save only to be beaten down.  All of the sudden Carlos Colon Sr. comes out to make the sabe, but is manhandled by ASH, Invader and T.N.T.  Carlito throws himself on top of his father to prevent the beating to continue but cannot do it for long.  Out from the crowd Rey Gonzalez comes to make the save and he clears the ring using what it looked like a walking stick.  After the heels clear the ring, the crowd starts chanting for Carlito and Gonzalez to once again unite.  Colon Sr. also asked them to unite, but Carlito told him he does not trust him.

This show was a very good show with some good wrestling and hard work.  I have been very critical in the last 4 or 5 months about the direction of the company and how they are utilizing their talent.  I am happy to say that I can see improvement in their product, but still things that need to continue to work on.  As you will see in the cards that have been announced for this weekend, once again we get to see Carlos Colon Sr & Invader #1 involved in the top stories and matches for the events.  Other than that, I definitely like what they are doing underneath and how they continue to work the rest of the talent.

Interesting to see that after returning to the company a few weeks ago and being involved in a really good feud with Apolo, Gilbert is not announced for any of the cards for this weekend.  I have not heard any comments about the reasons why.  We will see in the coming weeks where this leads too.

WWC will have a house show tonight at the “Dr. Pedro Albizu Campos Coliseum” in Yabucoa, PR.  The following matches have been announced for the show:

  • Grudge Match: Carlos Colon Sr. vs “El Karateca Ninja” T.N.T.

  • “Mr. Ray-tings” Ray Gonzalez vs “Puertorican Dream” Invader #1

  • “El Chico Ilegal” Chicano & Xix Xavant vs “Face of Fear” ASH & Mighty Ursus w/ Juan Manuel Ortega

  • Mike Mendoza vs “El Diabolico”

  • AJ Castillo vs Syler Andrews

  • Erick Scorpion vs Samuel Adams

  • “Mr. San Juan” Tommy Diablo vs David Montes

Tomorrow night, WWC takes their action back to the “Pepin Cestero Arena” in Bayamon, PR.  The following is the card announced for tomorrow’s event:

  • Figure 4 vs Taped Fist:  Carlos Colon Sr. vs “Puertorican Dream” Invader #1

  • Settling the Score:  “Mr. Ray-tings” Ray Gonzalez vs “El Karateca Ninja” T.N.T.

  • WWC Tag Team Title Rematch: “El Chico Ilegal” Chicano & Xix Xavant (c) vs “La Artilleria Pesada” Thunder & Lightning

  • “Tough Man” Andy Leavine vs Mighty Ursus w/ Juan Manuel Ortega
