To the shock of well, I don't know who, Shane Douglas has been added to the 2/8 Extreme Rising event in Pittsburgh, PA.
The New York Wrestling Connection will have their biggest event of their year, the Psycho Circus on 2/14 in Deer Park, Long Island, featuring Mikey Whipwreck and Matt Justice leading teams into a crazy gimmick match featuring a steel cage, barbed wire, weapons and even glass tubes. The NYWC championship will be on the line as the former champion The Big O (same guy from the Zack Ryder videos) broke his shin in a freak gym accident and had to vacate the belt. Robb V. sent the following....I was at Smash Wrestling Any Given Sunday 2 last night in Toronto. Thought you might be interested that after Chris Hero beat AJ Styles, he cut a promo making an open challenge to any promotion that wanted to book them in a best of 7 series. Overall the show was fantastic including a surprise appearance by ACH in a fatal fourway (originally scheduled as a 3 man match) with Kyle O’Reilly, Matt Cross, and Scotty O’Shea. Matt Cross won with a shooting star press. He told a few of us after the show that he uses the shooting star because he used to be in gymnastics and he thought a huge backflip would be an awesome finisher, a friend who had been in the business longer told him to use the shooting star instead. He didn’t know what it was until his friend called it a gainer. He tried it and was blown away by the reaction so he kept doing it. There’s more to the story but you might already know it. The crowd was hot all night and there really wasn’t a bad match on the card.
AJ Styles will be signing on 2/8 in Voorhees, NJ at the Adventureland Store (2120 Voorhees Town Center) at 12 PM. For more details, call 856-772-5900.
