Is there a deliberate effort inside WWE to keep Daniel Bryan down? I know Vince prefers to push tall, muscular guys, but it seems, looking at Bryan's history, they've tried over and over to make him irrelevant: the 17 second job to Sheamus at WM, turning his 'Yes' catchphrase to 'No' just when it was catching on, and of course the recent, repeated screwing him out of the title and putdowns from HHH and Steph. Altogether, it seems like a conspiracy to keep people from liking one of the best all-around performers they've ever had. Thoughts?

I don't know if they are purposely keeping him down, because if they didn't like him or want him, they could easily just release him or anyone else they don't want in the company. What I do believe happened is that in Vince McMahon's eyes, Bryan has to be a small talent fighting from underneath because he's not a massively, large talent and the way they presented Bryan hurt him, despite his obvious popularity. So, when his run didn't set the world on fire, they slid him back down the roster in a new direction with no real conclusion to his WWE title run. They can always go back to it, but time usually shows that when you attempt to go back to a moment where they were onto something and failed to grasp it, it's never as hot as it was the second time around.

I haven't heard word on one of my favorite wrestling personalities in a while... Any idea how Bobby Heenan is doing?

Bobby Heenan is still living in Florida and occasionally makes appearances at wrestling conventions. He's still dealing with a number of health issues stemming from his battle with cancer, but he's still hanging in there. I hear he loves being a grandfather and is still a massive baseball fan. He was one of the all time best ever - and we wish him and his family the best.

If Dixie Carter were to ever realize that she needs a powerhouse in charge of creative, who do you think TNA should hire (that's currently available) to head creative to really give the fans a real pro wrestling show? Obviously, this person would have complete creative control...

I think the real key is to find someone that's never been put in that position but has a great aptitude for the business and give them a chance. There's got to be someone in the late 20s/early 30s who's got great ideas and is ready to go. As much as it's nice to hope they give Paul Heyman or someone else that position, the business overall will be stronger when the "next" Paul Heyman or Eddie Graham appears.

Hi, thanks for providing a great site. John Cena is considered the biggest star in WWE but I was wondering how this is qualified. There certainly seems to be more popular wrestlers (judging by fan reactions) then him, so is purely down to merchandise sold? Do WWE release the information about how much individual wrestlers sell? Is Cena selling like double the amount of the number 2 seller?

WWE doesn't release merchandise numbers but Cena is obviously heads over everyone in terms of ratings, live attendance, PPV, merchandise and other revenue streams.

How can WWE wrestlers/superstars be labeled as "independent contractors" when they are not permitted to work for anyone else?

They allow themselves to be.
