THOUGHTS ON THE WWE KASSIUS RELEASE, A JIM ROSS-WWE RETURN?, THE FINAL RIDE FOR DREAMER AND FUNK AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2013-11-09 10:00:00
What are your thoughts on WWE releasing Kassius Ohno?

Well, we don't know what caused the release, so it could be he was released with cause. I haven't been told a specific reason as of this writing, so I can only look at this from the perspective of what Ohno can and does do in the ring. From that POV, the release came off as a bad move to me at worse and short-sighted at the least. Ohno had size to him and could work a variety of styles in the ring. I don't know that he would have ever been a top-tier player in the WWE world, but to look at his work and not think he couldn't have been a worthwhile part of their roster as a singles talent or as part of a tag team (Hell, he and Luke Harper could have been an awesome version of the Wyatt Family) isn't considering the possibilities. He was a really good in-ring worker and a very good heel that could generate real heat - both of those are qualities that WWE is going to be more and more in demand of in the future. I can't see how this won't be a release they regret down the line, but that's just me.

Except for being in a six Diva tag match a few weeks ago I haven't seen much of Kaitlyn lately? What's been the reason?

She's been too busy appearing on www.pwinsidertv.com.

It's just a creative decision. She's been at all the TVs.

So Tommy Dreamer says the HOH show is the last time he's going to team with Terry Funk. Why the hell should we believe that?

While Terry Funk would certainly go back on a stipulation for a great payday, Dreamer has been pretty rigid with honoring stipulations. He lost a match that said he would never return to "ECW" and he didn't. He claimed the Hardcore Justice PPV would be the final time he'd be involved with a ECW reunion style product and he's turned down lots of ECW-esque reunion shows since over the last several years. So, when he says it's going to be the last time they team, you can probably believe it.

Do you think we'll ever see Jim Ross in WWE again?

I think the idea of Ross never, ever calling another match in WWE is a pretty depressing idea, so I'm going to say that while he'll never be back there full-time ever again, I can't imagine that they won't request him to work on future projects, especially with the Network and the Mid-South library. No one ever stays away forever. So, I think we'll see him again, even if its just a cameo appearance. If he doesn't, that's WWE's loss.

What are the chances of someone taking all the different ECW documentary footage and editing it into a super-doc?

I'd be shocked to find out some fan with a lot of time on their hands hasn't already done this, but legally, you won't ever see, unless someone wants to a legal letter for releasing it!
