BAD SCENE FOLLOWING NYC LUCHA SHOW

Earlier tonight, PWInsider.com covered a Lucha show in Queens, NY promoted by Joel Maximo's Fighting Spirit Wrestling and Amaro Productions. Amaro Production has in the past brought in talent to California indy promotions, paying the talent themselves. This was their first full-fledged show and they partnered with FSW on it.

As noted in the live report, the show, held at the ELMCOR Center in Corona (in a predominantly Mexican part of that neighborhood) did not draw well. With talent flying in from Mexico, Puerto Rico and elsewhere, the show drew in the area of 100-150 fans. How much of that was paid remains debatable as talents working the show brought friends with them, etc.

After the show, there was no money to pay the talent, which as you can imagine, led to a lot of pissed off wrestlers - and rightfully so. Amaro Productions and Joel Maximo were passing the buck back and forth on who was responsible for the costs. Amaro was asking where the live gate was and Maximo's side responded by saying the show didn't draw.

This led to some ugly confrontations. At one point, Brian Cage (who flew in from California) began screaming that he flew "5000 miles" and demanded his money.

Andy Leavine, the former WWE Tough Enough winner, was backstage (one source claimed that Leavine, who did not work the show, was booked by Amaro) and at one point, tried to prevent the FSW ring crew from taking the ring, with the idea that it would be held hostage until they were paid.

At one point, Savio Vega walked through the locker room saying "the money was stolen" and telling JR Amaro that he knew it wasn't his fault, insinuating it was one the FSW side.

From speaking to the wrestlers, some were booked by FSW and some were booked by Amaro, who where the responsibility for who should have paid them falls into a grey area.

Former WWE star Chris Masters, however, decided both parties were at fault, writing via Twitter, "Attn Wrestling world Amaro productions and FSW in Queens NY just screwed a whole locker room out of money. Do not do Buisiness with them!"
