Without further ado:
Here we go...
Pre-Show Dark Matches:
J. Best (w/"VIP" Joe Rosa, Roberto De Luna, & Austin Bradley) vs. Rudy Switchblade.
Rudy & Best lock up. The VIP Club grabs at Rudy allowing Best to hit him from behind. Rudy comes back, snapmares Best, and delivers some kicks to his back. He throws Best in the corner and hits a running double knee to the back. Austin tries to interfere, but Rudy throws him into Roberto, who had gotten on the apron, and then throws him out of the ring. Rudy then puts Best in the elevated Boston crab to get the submission win.
WINNER: RUDY by submission.
MY TAKE: Rudy continues to shine in singles' action. Is gold in his future?
Flash Flanagan vs. Elvis Pridemoore.
Flash puts Elvis in a headlock, and takes Elvis down. He misses an elbow, and Elvis puts Flash in an armbar. Flash backs him into the corner and elbows him in the head. He tries to throw Elvis to the corner, but Elvis reverses and hits a monkey flip. Flash comes back with a big chop to the chest and tries an arm drag, but Elvis reverses. He tries another monkey flip, but Flash drops him head first into the turnbuckle. He delivers more chops, and locks in a sleeper. Elvis breaks free and runs off the ropes, but is caught with a knee to the gut. Flash with another chop. Elvis comes back with a kick to the head, causing Flash to fall across the middle rope. Elvis with a butt drop across Flash's back, and a running fist to the head. He goes up top and Flash rolls out of the way of a splash, then goes up top himself and hits a flying neckbreaker for the win.
WINNER: FLASH by pinfall. MY TAKE: The veteran Flash shows another young gun how it's done. Lei'd Tapa vs. Hannah Blossom (w/Holly).
Tapa throws Hannah down twice. Hannah jumps on her back, but Tapa rams her back into the corner. Hannah tries firing away on Tapa, but Tapa fights her off and hits a big slam. She tries to pin with 1 foot, but Hannah kicks out. She locks in a sleeper, and then delivers another big slam. She steps on Hannah's hair and pulls up on her arms at the same time. She throws Hannah off the ropes, Hannah ducks a clothesline, and hits Tapa. She goes up top and hits a flying body press for 2. Tapa comes back and catches Hannah, throws her on her shoulders, and hits a spinning stunner to finish her off.
MY TAKE: An impressive debut by the latest female GutCheck winner. She could very quickly change the entire complexion of the OVW Femme Fatale division.
That concludes tonight's pre-show dark matches. I always recommend watching the episode first on TV or online before reading the rest of the report. Again, you can check it out on OVW's official website late Thursday afternoon/evening at www.ovwrestling.com/tv and on WBNA ion-21 in the Louisville area Saturdays at 12 noon with replays Wednesdays at 9PM after WWE Main Event. The Coalition comes out first and Jason Wayne says it's time to deliver a State of the OVW Union Address, as they continue with Operation OVW Freedom. Crimson takes the mic and says it is a good day America. The dictator known as Michael Hayes has fallen. Wayne says they will now be accepting questions from the press. Joe Coleman says Wayne has been through many wars, but what has been his best moment? Wayne says that he & Crimson were in the tank that pulled down the statue of Saddam Hussein, but his best moment came when they drove away Michael Hayes. Raul LaMotta asks Crimson about deporting terrorists like the Blossoms, Rob Terry, & Rockstar Spud. Crimson replies that it is on the top of the list. Shiloh screams out who are they gonna kill next? Crimson tells him to ease it up. Then, Ghillie asks the final question by signing it. Crimson says that is a good question, but Danny Davis comes charging out. He says to shut up, and Crimson offers him a cigar. Davis says he'll stick it where the sun don't shine. He says he just heard from the Board of Directors, and Michael Hayes might no longer be running the company that he owns, but now he is! No more Director of Operations, he's running his own company! The first order of business is reinstating Michael Hayes to the active roster, and at Saturday Night Special on June 1st, Hayes and a partner of his choosing (that he will reveal later tonight), will face Crimson & Jason Wayne! He tells them to go, and get out of the ring.
He then calls out the bully, Jay Bradley. He tells Jay that he should never put his hands on any announcer, but especially Dean Hill, his good friend that has been with him for over 20 years. He says since Jay is a big TNA star, he is fining him $5000 and has 30 days to make out a check to OVW. Jay asks about his title shot, and Davis says he has a blank contract and would give it to any number of guys in the back before he would give it to him. Jamin Olivencia comes out and gets in Jay's face. Davis says he knows they hate each other and they will have a non-title match later tonight.
"Strongest Gamer Alive" Marcus Anthony vs. Ted "Manbeast" McNaler (w/Brittany Devore).
Marcus makes his return to the Davis Arena over a year since we last saw him. He does an impressive backflip during his entrance. Marcus completely destroys Ted, even after Ted tries firing back after taking a gulp of "rocket fuel". Marcus finishes him off with a suplex into slam finisher.
WINNER: MARCUS by pinfall.
After the match, Ted has to be stretchered out.
MY TAKE: Marcus actually got a positive reaction from the crowd, but it looks like he is back to take care of unfinished business. In the back, the Coalition are having a meeting, and Crimson notices the camera, and tells them to get lost. Taeler Hendrix vs. Holly Blossom (w/Hannah).
Taeler shoves Holly, but Holly fires back. Holly runs off the ropes and hits Taeler with a shot to the head. They both run at each other and take each other down by the head. Heidi Lovelace comes running out and yelling at them to stop. She tells Taeler that this has been going on too long and she needs an answer. Taeler grabs her by the hand and walks back to the locker room with her, getting counted out in the process.
WINNER: HOLLY by countout. MY TAKE: Leaving together? Does that mean Taeler & Heidi are now "friends with benefits"? In the back, Randy Royal is bragging about a new 60" plasma TV he got. Tony says he's helping him to pay off the bills, and Royal tells him he's not his dad, he's fine. When they close the door, Ghillie is standing there where he has been listening in. OVW TELEVISION TITLE: "The Justin Bieber of Professional Wrestling" Dylan Freak'n Bostic vs. "The Double R Superstar" Randy Royal (w/Tony Gunn) [c].
Bostic attacks from behind, kicks Royal in the chest, and delivers a dropkick. Royal fires back and goes for the reverse russian leg sweep, but Dylan elbows out and throws Royal to the corner. Royal stops his momentum to keep from squashing referee Josh Ashcraft, but Dylan charges and almost collides with Josh, causing him to hit the deck. As Gunn checks on him, Royal grabs Bostic and throws him over the top rope. Josh or Gunn neither one see what happened and Josh counts Bostic out.
WINNER and STILL OVW TV CHAMPION: ROYAL by countout. MY TAKE: Another important win for Randy, but will he put the money to good use? In the back, Michael Hayes is walking through the locker room and says hi to Ryan Howe, Rockstar Spud, and finally Jamin Olivencia. As they are talking, they notice Delta Team Bravo trying to spy on them and run them off. Jamin leaves the contract laying on a chair, which is picked up by a mysterious hand. Paredyse vs. "Off the Wall" Sam Shaw.
Shaw controls Paredyse early. He hits an arm drag, and locks in an armbar. Paredyse breaks out, throws Shaw into the corner and charges, but Shaw moves. Shaw with a dropkick, arm drag, and another armbar. Paredyse breaks out and misses a knee drop. Back to the armbar, but Paredyse clubs Shaw in the face. He throws Shaw to the corner, but Shaw reverses and hits a monkey flip. He tries for a second one, but Paredyse holds on to the ropes. Paredyse goes for a clothesline, but Shaw ducks and comes back with a Lou Thesz press. Paredyse comes back with a knee to the head and kicks Shaw in the corner. He charges him, but Shaw moves, and Paredyse straddles the middle turnbuckle. Shaw hits an atomic drop, punches, and hits a dropkick. Paredyse reverses a slam attempt into a sleeper hold. Shaw throws him off into the turnbuckle. He hits the backbreaker/neckbreaker combo, and a legdrop. Shaw finishes him off with Shawshanked for the pin.
WINNER: SHAW by pinfall. MY TAKE: Shaw is looking to keep climbing to the top of the mountain both in OVW and TNA. "Lonesome" Jay Bradley vs. Jamin Olivencia (Non-Title Match).
Jay hits Jamin, Jamin comes back with a reverse headlock. Jay hits a big boot and dusts off his boot. He locks in a sleeper. Jay hammers Jamin, and hits a snap suplex. He tries to pin for 2. Another sleeper, but Jamin slips out and kicks Jay in the face. Jay elbows him out of the ring, but Jamin holds onto the ropes and stays on the apron. He hits Jay and rams his head into the turnbuckle from the outside. He goes up top, but Jay catches him with a strike on a high risk attempt. Jay rams him in the corner and sets up for the Boomstick, but Jamin pulls down the top rope, and Jay flies to the outside. Jay moves out of the way of a baseball slide and they fight on the outside. Back inside, Jamin charges Jay, but Jessie Godderz has come out and pulls Jay out of the way. A dreary Jay gets up and hits the Boomstick on Jamin for the win.
WINNER: BRADLEY by pinfall. After the match, Godderz grabs a mic and says that Danny Davis said anyone could sign this contract, and not just anyone but (he spells out) M R P E C (WITH A DASH) T A C U L A R! He'll see him on June 1st at Saturday Night Special for HIS OVW Heavyweight Title.
MY TAKE: A surprising turn of events, as Jessie Godderz makes himself #1 contender. Something tells me Jay Bradley is not gonna be happy about this.
Generals Crimson & Jason Wayne of the Coalition come to the ring and say they have been trying to find information all night on who Michael Hayes' partner will be. They need to go straight to the source and call out Michael Hayes. Hayes comes to the ring and Crimson & Wayne yell at him, asking who his partner is. Hayes raises his arm and drops them, and the lights go out. When they return on, ALI VAEZ is in the ring! Hayes points behind them, and they turn around into a double clothesline from Ali.
They rid the ring of Crimson & Wayne, and the crowd goes for crazy for the once bitter enemies and now team of Hayes & Ali!
MY TAKE: After a 10-month absence, Ali has returned to help fight against the Coalition! Was this a wise choice by Michael Hayes? After all, these 2 guys know each other better than anyone else on the roster after their long feud. This ended the TV taping.
Post-Show Dark Matches: Nikki St. John vs. Heidi Lovelace.
Heidi locks Nikki up from behind. Nikki feels icky, and tells Heidi she is disgusting. Heidi locks in a headlock, but Nikki kicks her and throws her out of the ring. Nikki drives her shoulder into Heidi's gut in the corner. She reaches down to grab her, but Heidi rolls her up in a small package and gets the 3.
WINNER: HEIDI by pinfall. MY TAKE: Heidi seems to be refocused after getting her answer from Taeler Hendrix. The Coalition: "Thunderlats" Joe Coleman, Ghillie Man, & Delta Team Bravo: Shiloh Jonze & "Rudo" Raul LaMotta (w/Generals Wayne & Crimson) vs. "The Welsh Colossus" Rob Terry, 4M: "Mister Marvelous" Melvin Maximus, & the Rockstars (Spud & Ryan Howe).
4M launches Joe across the ring. Howe tags in and slams Joe and hits a fist drop. Joe grabs him and throws him into the turnbuckle. Raul tags in and hits him, but Howe fires back, and hits a roundhouse kick. Raul back with a chop and kicks Howe. Shiloh tags in and throws Howe off the ropes, but Howe back with a sliding uppercut. Spud is tagged in and fires away. He charges into Shiloh in the corner. He runs off the ropes, but is hit by Joe on the outside. Raul holds Shiloh for a fist off the second rope. Ghillie is tagged in and he elbows Spud in the back. He drives his shoulder into Spud in the corner and tags Joe back in. Joe stomps Spud in the abdomen, and does the pushups across Spud's back, choking Spud across the second rope. Crimson hits Spud on the outside. Raul & Joe double team Spud while Shiloh has the ref distracted. Shiloh tags in and charges into Spud in the corner. He tries to pin for 2. He charges again, but this time Spud moves, and Spud tags Rob. Rob clotheslines all 4 of them, and then splashes Shiloh & Ghillie in the corner. He grabs Raul & Joe and throws them into a dropkick from Howe. He throws Ghillie & Shiloh into a double clothesline from 4M. He then finishes Shiloh off with his big finisher for the pin.
WINNERS: TERRY, 4M, & ROCKSTARS by pinfall. MY TAKE: Big Rob is still proving that he is an unstoppable force. If you enjoy PWInsider.com you can check out the AD-FREE PWInsider Elite section,
