NEW WWE STUDIOS FILM SECOND AT WEEKEND BOX OFFICE

By Mike Johnson on 2013-03-17 15:41:44
The Halle Berry thriller "The Call" grossed $17.1 million over the course of its opening weekend, landing in second place at the box office before Disney's new Oz film, which is showing strong legs as a family picture.

Berry and the marketing of "The Call" are being credited with its success, as it was the most successful of any film debuting this weekend, including the new Jim Carrey/Steve Catrell comedy, which did far less business than expected.

The Call opened on 2,507 screens.

In comparison, WWE Studios' "Dead Man Down" which just finished ten days of release, has only made $9,287,000 to date, opening on 2,188 screens.
