TONS OF DRAGON GATE USA & EVOLVE UPDATES FOR WRESTLEMANIA WEEKEND AND BEYOND: YOUNG BUCKS, LOW KI, EVOLVE TITLE TOURNAMENT, ANNUAL DG SIX MAN TAG AND TONS MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2013-02-14 11:22:02

Low Ki looks to be done with DGUSA for the time being. There was no fallout or drama between the two sides, but there's also been no communication. He's been off working in New Japan. So, going forward, since so many have asked, there's no plans for him and no plans for him working Wrestlemania weekend specifically.

We've got lots of Wrestlecon weekend updates for the promotion. PWInsider.com has confirmed the big Dragon Gate six man tag will take place on Sunday 4/7 matinee prior to Wrestlemania. Gabe Sapolsky hasn't worked out who will be in the match yet. There are also plans for Super Smash Brothers vs. The Young Bucks but which event it will be on isn't set in stone. The hope is for the Bucks to take the role El Generico had as an independent talent with some acclaim and use that to have great matches and bring new awareness to some of their regulars.

The EVOLVE tournament is also taking shape for 4/5. The promotion has "seeded" Chuck Taylor, Ricochet and AR Fox as their top competitors. The plan is that Taylor and Ricochet will get byes into the semi-finals. Fox will face someone in a singles bout, with the winner wrestling Ricochet. Taylor will face the winner of a Freestyle match. The semi-final winners will then face off to crown the first-ever EVOLVE champion.

Thus far CIMA, Shingo, Akira Tozawa and EITA are confirmed for Wrestlemania weekend. They are also bringing in at least one new Japanese talent who has never been to the United States.

Post Wrestlecon weekend, the promotion is working on securing more dates so they can run regularly. The feeling is that their #1 problem in 2012 was the lack of regular dates hurting interest in the promotion. They are looking at running Florida after Wrestlecon and the search is on for a permanent home in the NYC area.

The WWNLive.com Roku channel has been designed and is being beta tested by Roku. The hope is to have it live by Wrestlemania weekend for all the obvious reasons.

Rich Swann is back in Japan for Dragon Gate and will be there until Wrestlecon.

DGUSA'S Open The Golden Gate 2012, which was voted as the DGUSA/EVOLVE show of the year by the fans, is only $10 for either the DVD at DGUSA.tv or iPPV at WWNLive.com with CIMA & Ricochet vs. Masaaki Mochizuki & Jimmy Susumu and PAC vs. Akira Tozawa as the top matches.
