LONGTIME WRESTLING PERSONALITY AL MANDELL PASSES AWAY

By Mike Johnson on 2012-12-29 00:09:30
Al Mandell, who was involved in a ton of different aspects of the pro wrestling business, from promoter to wrestler and beyond, passed away on 12/26 at the age of 92 in Charlotte, NC.

Mandell worked around the business for decades for a number of promotions, first breaking in working in the Ohio area as a wrestler and backstage hand.

Over the years, he worked in Charlotte and for the IWA, among other promotions, handling different backstage positions as well as "on screen" appearances handling timekeeping and other positions.

In recent years, Mandell was a top booster for the Cauliflower Alley Club and is credited with bringing them more paid members than any other person.

Slam! Wrestling in Canada featured a great profile on Mandell's career and life at this link.

Our deepest condolences to his friends and family on Mandell's passing.
