WHY WWE ISN'T BLURRING FOOTAGE OR THE WWF NAME ON THE ATTITUDE DVD

By Mike Johnson on 2012-11-21 09:18:43
I know we covered this several months ago, but with the release of the Attitude Era DVD, we have received a TON of emails asking about the usage of the WWF name and logo as well as said logo not being blurred. So, I will just cover it here, once again.

As we noted several months back, WWE and the World Wildlife Fund came to a settlement for the company to use the name and logo in any older archived mateial. So, they have full rights to using the name in any TV shows, DVDs, etc. that they produce going forward.

The company cannot produce any new material using the name, so they aren't going to release a "Best of the WWF" title or anything like that. For marketing and promotion, everything would titled WWE but the actual older footage can be used unedited.

As we noted at the time, a big reason the company finally came to a settlement over the issue was the amount of work needed to digitally alter older footage for the planned WWE Network. So, the company bit the bullet and did what was the best for all involved, settling the matter.
