WRESTLING IS FUN iPPV LIVE REPORT

By Joshua Higham on 2012-10-28 08:55:40

Wrestling is Fun! presents The Allentown Potassium Massacre
Smart Mark Video Free-Per-View
October 27, 2012

Gavin Loudspeaker started the event with a song, just like he usually does with the Chikara events in Easton.

Mike Quackenbush came out at the start of the show, requesting that Veronica be banned from ringside during his match with Mr. Touchdown later tonight. Mr. Touchdown countered with requesting a six-man tag match instead. Quackenbush responded with a version of the stunner, leaving Touchdown laying.

Ultramantis Black vs. Stigma. After some brawling and shenanigans on the floor, Stigma  got Mantis up for an airplane spin. Dazed and confused, Stigma grabbed a fan wearing a Ultramantis Black mask and sent him into the ring. Ultramantis Fan schoolboyed Stigma for a pin counted by Ultramantis Black. Stigma schoolboyed Jon Barber for a pin by Mantis and the fan. Then, Ultramantis Black schoolboyed Stigma for the official pin. Ultramantis Black and the fan then handed out candy to the crowd before leaving the arena.

Jervis Cottonbelly vs. Oleg the Usurper. Oleg the Usurper wins quickly and decisively with a clubbing lariat that the commentators called the Hammer of Thor.

Saturyne vs. a mystery opponent.
The mystery opponent was revealed to be Johnny Ego, who was accompanied by a butler/manservant/personal valet. Johnny took the mic before the match and announced that after his loss to Green Ant last month, he went back to Ecuador, rediscovered his roots, and will now be known as Juan Francisco de Coranado. de Coranado got the win by tapout with a cloverleaf variant.

Ophidian vs. Gran Akuma
. Akuma got the pinfall after a modified Death Valley Driver.

Brief intermission.

Kobald vs. The Estonian Thunderfrog
. The Estonian Thunderfrog won by disqualification when Obariyon showed up and showed the Frog off the top rope. A photo of the Frog can be viewed here: http://t.co/5dSx9Dxm

Jaka vs. The Swamp Monster w/ Chuck Taylor
. Chuck Taylor went to commentary and kept yelling for the Swamp Monster to cheat. Chuck Taylor left commentary to try to give the Swamp Monster a chair, which was enough for Jaka to hook on a choke bomb to get the win. Taylor berated the Swamp Monster post-match, saying he was going to cut him out of the Gentlemen’s Club t-shirt.

assailANT vs. Dasher Hatfield
. assailANT got the win, giving Dasher Hatfield his first loss in Wrestling is Fun.

They held a mini-Halloween costume contest, which was won by a little girl.

The Batiri & Banana Champion and Chikara Young Lions Cupholder Mr. Touchdown w/ Veronica vs. Mike Quackenbush, Fire Ant, and Green Ant
. On commentary, Chikarason brought up Veronica managing the Batiri in AIW to help make sense of the pairing. Touchdown tebowed at multiple points in the match. Kobald came out to attempt interference, but was blocked by The Estonian Thunderfrog. Mike Quackenbush and The Colony picked up the win when Quack hit the QD3 on Mr. Touchdown.

Notes and thoughts
: The show started roughly 45 minutes late, because of the ring not arriving. Jon Barber and Daniel Yost were the referees. Leonard F. Chikarason, Gavin Loudspeaker, Ultramantis Black, and Chuck Taylor rotated on commentary. Oleg the Usurper was originally supposed to face Grizzly Redwood. Gran Akuma was originally scheduled to face Jaka. The only technical issues I had with the stream was hearing some technical/planning conversations between the camera operators and commentators that we probably shouldn’t have heard. The picture wasn’t HD crystal clear, but never poor enough to negatively affect the viewing experience. Thumbs up to Smart Mark Video on their live stream. Even with the late start, the show ended at 10pm, which is pretty ideal.
