Chikara presents “Deep Freeze” Saturday October 6, 2012 at the ProSouth Arena in Piedmont, AL. Belltime is 7 pm.

Chikara will make its debut in Alabama in the home of NWA ProSouth. Coming off the heels of the wildly successful King of Trios weekend, Chikara turns its attention to new territory with their trip to the south before heading to North Carolina.
Young Lions Cup: Mr. Touchdown vs. Green Ant
Mr. Touchdown will make his first defense of the Young Lions Cup he won two months ago in Indianapolis. His challenger this time is Green Ant, a finalist in the YLC IX tournament. Green Ant was not even entered in this year’s YLC X tournament and hasn’t had the best win-loss record in the past few months of Chikara action, partially due to his new trio thanks to Chikarabermetrics. In Chikara’s sister promotion Wrestling is Fun! in July, Mr. Touchdown defeated Green Ant to win the Banana Championship.
Gran Akuma vs. The Shard
Gran Akuma returns to singles competition after a few months competing in a trios designed by Chikarabermetrics with 3.0. Akuma is undefeated in singles action since since his return to Chikara and has only suffered defeat in the first round of King of Trios. The Shard comes into this match, having to feel slightly vanquished and in need of redemption. Two of his GEKIDO brethren have practically been knocked out of Chikara by Mike Quackenbush, who just so happens to be The Shard’s opponent the next night in North Carolina.
The Mysterious and Handsome Stranger vs. deviANT
The Mysterious and Handsome Stranger first arrived in Chikara during the recent New England events with his pet pigeon, Sapphire. So far, the Stranger is undefeated in singles action, defeating the likes of Icarus, The Shard, and Tim Donst. deviANT, on the other hand, hasn’t gotten the winners’ purse since June, spending much of the summer forced to be in a trio with Soldier Ant. His GEKIDO stable has shrunk in the last two months with Mike Quackenbush taking 17 and combatANT out of commission.
Kyle Matthews vs. Ace Haven
Two of the biggest stars of ProSouth Wrestling will showcase their talents for the Chikarmy. Kyle Matthews may not be a totally unknown name to fans across the country, having competed in the Young Lions Cup VI tournament in 2008 and recently popping up in several Evolve, Dragon Gate USA, and Resistance Pro events. Ace Haven is the current ProSouth Heavyweight Champion, having defeated Matthews for that title in April.
The Spectral Envoy vs. Los Ice Creams
The Spectral Envoy have had a rather successful summer despite the constant threat of Delirious’ new alliance. Not only have they won the 2012 King of Trios tournament, but Hallowicked and Ultramantis Black are sitting on two points, one win away from challenging the Young Bucks for the Campeonatos de Parejas. In their path are the dastardly dairy duo of El Hijo del Ice Cream and Ice Cream Jr. Los Ice Creams had their points erased in the Tag Gauntlet at King of Trios, so their climb towards the Campeonatos de Parejas begins again.
Fire Ant and assailANT vs. Jakob Hammermeier and Tim Donst
Jakob Hammermeier and Tim Donst have not gotten along very well since Donst lost his hair at the Chikarasaurus Rex iPPV. Donst prevented Hammermeier’s attempt to advance to the Young Lions Cup X finals and has generally been abusive or aloof towards his tag team partner. Luckily, maybe, their opponents in Alabama don’t care for each other as well. Put together by the Wink Vavasseur’s Chikarabermetrics, Fire Ant and assailANT have been totally unsuccessful in any matches together, including a first round exit at King of Trios. Donst seems to be on a war path since King of Trios, trying to be the replacement of karma in pro wrestling.
FIST (Chuck Taylor, Icarus, and Sugar Dunkerton) vs. Obariyon, Kodama, and Ophidian
The 100% More Chocolate version of FIST continues their attempt to gel as a group with Johnny Gargano wrestling for Dragon Gate in Japan. Sugar Dunkerton hasn’t quite fit in with his new associates, preferring not to cheat and steal victories like FIST is so prone to do historically. Their opponents are no strangers to cheating and stealing wins. Ophidian, as Delirious’ general, will lead Obariyon and Kodama into the match for their first time as a trio. Sugar Dunkerton will try to gain some revenge on Ophidian for his under-handed win in July as FIST tries to avenge the losses caused by Ophidian when they teamed together in recent months.
Frightmare vs. Kobald
This match is another battle in the war between the Spectral Envoy and Delirious’ new alliance. Frightmare recently returned from a knee injury, but it is still a target for all opponents. Kobald and his partners tried their best multiple times to stop the Spectral Envoy from winning the King of Trios, but Frightmare and his partners overcame to become the 2012 King of Trios. Now, Kobald will try to do some damage in singles action, but surely, his teammates will be lurking around somewhere close.
For tickets, you’ll have to get them at the door. General admission tickets are $20. And remember, kids under 12 get in free with a paying adult.
