ANGLE'S WWE DEPARTURE, TOD GORDON NOT GETTING THE CREDIT HE DESERVES, MASON RYAN AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2012-08-17 10:00:00
Just got done watching TNA Hardcore Justice. The 4 way ladder match was great and reminded me of just how good Kurt Angle is. Im sure this has been covered a million times but what was his reason for leaving WWE? Its great to see him working guys like Samoa Joe, Styles, and Daniels but a man of his caliber really does belong on the biggest stage of them all. I know he told Vince it was due to injuries but then popped up on TNA a few weeks later. So what was the real story behind Angle leaving WWE? Do you think he'll go back for one more run?

Angle was released because the promotion was worried about his behavior. At the time, he admitted that he was taking an insane amount of prescription medication in order to perform, although he later tried to claim he was working WWE in order to get a release. The reality is that his behavior towards the end of the WWF run was a huge red flag. I don't see him returning there, although Angle often tells people he wants to work one last Wrestlemania.

With Kevin Nash's recent comments on littler guys being the death of wrestling, I seem to remember that not too long ago wasnt it Nash singing the praises of Dolph Ziggler (a littler guy I believe.)? This either makes Nash a hypocrite or a master of creating buzz for himself. Your thoughts?

Nash is just saying whatever he thinks is going to get him back in a major company working against people he knocks.

I understand Cena sells tons of merchandise, but couldn't a Cena heel turn bring back a lot of viewers that have gotten tired of WWE's stale product and turned it off? Yeah, merchandise sales might go down, but wouldn't ratings spike? And aren't ratings what it's all about?

It's quite possible but WWE isn't willing to take that chance since he's the face of their operation.

Great site. I was just wondering the status of Mason Ryan. Is he still under contract with WWE ? And if he is, will he be returning to TV in the near future? Thanks again.

He's under contract but not being used at the moment.

Why is it that Tod Gordon never seems to get the credit he deserves?

I think it's a mixture of people believing that Tod was just a money guy for ECW when he was actually involved in some of the creative aspect, plus hard feelings on WWE's part because Gordon sued them over the rights to the Eastern Championship Wrestling footage. I think anyone who actually paid attention to history can see how important he was so it's a shame the general population of fans doesn't get it.
