THIS DAY IN HISTORY: HARLEM HEAT WIN THE FIRST OF TEN WCW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS

On this day in history in ....

1959 - Billy Wicks defeats Pancho Villa in a tournament final in Pensacola, Florida to start his fourth reign as NWA Gulf Coast Heavyweight Champion.  The previous champion, Lee Fields, had vacated the title when he decided to purchase the promotion.

1971 - Dominic DeNucci (who went on to train Mick Foley, Shane Douglas, and others) defeats Waldo Von Erich for the National Wrestling Federation World Heavyweight Title in Buffalo, New York.

1971 - The Alaskans (Mike York & Frank Monte) defeated The Australians (Larry O'Day & Ron Miller) in Miami, Florida for the NWA Florida Tag Team Title, ending The Australians' second reign as champions.

1990 - Tony Anthony & Doug Gilbert defeat Jeff Jarrett & Cody Michaels in Memphis, Tennessee to win the USWA World Tag Team Title for the second time.

1994 - Harlem Heat, Booker T & Stevie Ray, defeat Stars & Stripes (The Patriot & Marcus Bagwell) to win the WCW World Tag Team Title in Atlanta, Georgia, ending the second reign of Bagwell & Patriot. This was the first of an eventual ten WCW World Tag Team Title reigns for Harlem Heat.

2001 - Psicosis defeats Juventud Guerrera to win the World Wrestling All-Stars International Cruiserweight Title in Glasgow, Scotland.
