DETAILED RESULTS FROM THE 5/19 WWE SUPERSHOW IN FLORENCE, SC

By Barb Roach on 2012-05-20 08:57:45
Here are the results from the Florence, SC Supershow of May 19, 2012.

Couple of show notes: Florence Civic Center full to the middle of the upper rafters. Good hot crowd for most of the night. On a disappointing note the well advertised CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho match did NOT happen with NO explanation. On a personal note I was extremely excited to see my favorite CM Punk with the WWE Championship tonight and when it didn't happen it dampened my mood. But without further ado here are your results.

Matt Striker was the ring announcer he came out to a lukewarm reception from the crowd.

They then did the RAW theme which got a huge pop from the crowd.

Match #1 Hunico w/Camacho vs. Sin Cara. Crowd seemed like they did not know who Hunico was but Sin Cara got a big pop from the crowd. Sin Cara won this match with the twisting huricanrana.

Match #2 David Otunga vs. Zack Ryder. Otunga received a mixed reaction from the crowd. Zack got a big pop. Match mostly consisted of Otunga posing. Otunga defeated Ryder with a spinebuster.

Match #3 Santino Marella vs. Jack Swagger w/Vickie Guerrero. For the US Championship. Vickie probably got the biggest heat from the crowd. Swagger received some heat but not the level of heat Vickie received. Santino was very over with the crowd. My husband noted that TV does NOT do Vickie any justice. She did look a lot thinner in person than she does on TV. Swagger initially pinned Santino but Santino had his foot on the rope Vickie knocked it off, Swagger won the title until another referee came down and had the decision reversed, match continued with Santino hitting the Cobra for the win and to retain his championship.

Match #4 Announced as a Tag Team Feature Attraction. The Great Khali came out first then Eve Torres appeared to a mixed reaction from the crowd and announced that since The Big Show was fired on Monday night John Laurinaitis made the match a 2 on 1 handicapped match. Where Khali faced the team of Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes and his partner Christian. As for crowd reaction Christian received a bigger pop than Khali. Cody received most of the heel heat here. Khali's popularity grew as the match progressed. Khali won by DQ when referee disqualified Christian and Rhodes for double team.

Match #5 No holds barred match Kane vs. Randy Orton. Kane received another mixed reaction from the crowd but when Orton came out he received the biggest pop of the night from the crowd first standing ovation. Crowd was incredibly into this match that saw a chair and a kendo stick. Orton won with an RKO. Orton then went around to crowd around ringside, shaking hands, etc. Orton very over with crowd.

At this point there was a 15 minute intermission. After intermission Matt Striker reminded people to visit the concession stand to buy merchandise. Then Daniel Bryan appeared at the top of the ramp and demanded Striker give him the loudest introduction from the crowd when he comes out later to face Sheamus. Bryan's YES chants started immediately with Bryan's appearance.

Match #6 Diva's Championship match. Beth Phoenix vs. Divas champ Layla. Beth received a mixed reaction where Layla received a lukewarm reaction like it seemed like a lot of people did not know who she was. Longer match for Divas then we usually see on TV but still pretty lackluster. Layla retained her championship with a spinning neckbreaker.

Match #7 World Heavyweight Championship. Sheamus (C) vs. Daniel Bryan. Sheamus had a big reaction from the crowd. Bryan received a mixture of Boos and YES chants. Probably best match of the night with Bryan carrying most of the match. Sheamus retained with a boot and a pin.

Match #8 The Main Event. John Cena vs. The Miz. Miz came out first said he was going to beat Cena so bad tonight that he would not be able to face John Laurinaitis at the PPV tomorrow night. Cena came out to a massive reaction from the crowd. Decent match where Miz had a lot of near falls but Cena came alive at the end to give Miz the Attitude Adjustment for the win. Despite the crowd response Cena was not eating it up as usual.

That ended our show Striker thanked everyone for coming.

Biggest face pop: Cena and Orton tied
Biggest heel heat: Vickie Guerrero

There was a lot of talk amongst the crowd over no Punk vs. Jericho. Seems I wasn't the only one who was disappointed.
