Here are the live spoilers from this week's Ring of Honor TV. These were originally taped at Baltimore's DuBurns Arena on April 7. Before the show it was announced that ROH would be returning to Baltimore for another round of TV tapings on May 18.
Dark Match: Ladarius Thomas def. JT Rochelle (I may have gotten this name wrong; it's my first time seeing these guys) in 5:30. One of these two, can't remember which, looks a lot like Val Venis. All the clever chants you might have expected did, in fact, occur.
Match 1: Caprice Coleman & Cedric Alexander def. the Briscoes in a Proving Ground Match in 5:30. The Briscoes were in control to start. Alexander was forced to hot tag Coleman, who was beaten down by Jay and subsequently had to hot tag Alexander. The big spots started when Jay swung Coleman into the barrier. The Briscoes double-teamed Alexander, nailing him with a bulldog powerbomb for a near fall. The World's Greatest Tag Team hit the ring and took out Jay Briscoe, creating the opportunity for C&C to hit a top rope hurricanrana/top rope splash combination for the pin.
Match 2: Rhino (with Truth Martini) def. Ginny Marsonia in 0:25. The crowd was super hot to see Rhino, and a bit surprised to see him come to the ring with Truth. Truth grabbed the mic and claimed that today was an exciting day for the House of Truth. He has the TV Champion Roderick Strong, Michael Elgin and now his hired mercenary and the newest member of the HOT, Rhino. Truth claimed that the Man Beast Era begins tonight. He looked to Marsonia and said he hoped he kissed his parents goodbye because that was the last they would ever see of him courtesy of the Gore! Gore! Gore! Rhino then proceeded to destroy him.
Jim Cornette comes to the ring with Kevin Kelly. Their guest at this time is pro wrestling's worst nightmare, Kevin Steen. Steen comes to the ring with a Canadian flag around his neck and Jimmy Jacobs at his side. The following interview in my paraphrasing of what went down:
CORNETTE: We're exciting to announce our next major show, Border Wars, will air on iPPV on May 12 from the Ted Reeve Arena in Toronto. I brought you out here Steen because I have something important to say to you.
STEEN: Oh, Jim has something important to say? That's funny, because all of the times I called you over the past year, you didn't answer. [looking around] I notice Davey isn't here, but maybe he's hiding behind your fat ass.
[Davey Richards hits the ring with an American flag around his neck (if I remember correctly)]
RICHARDS: Funny, Steen. But won't be so funny is when at Border Wars your ass gets kicked all the way back into the United States.
STEEN: Davey, this isn't about flags. Remember, we used to be close. I recall that once I got kicked out of Ring of Honor, I picked you up at the Montreal airport before a show and told you all about my problems. And you said to me, "Don't worry, Kevin, I'll talk to Jim about it." But you didn't do anything, did you? You didn't do anything because I'm a threat and you didn't want me around.
RICHARDS: You want to talk about problems? Kevin, your biggest problem is yourself.
STEEN: I'm the problem? You grab the mic after every show and tell the fans how great Ring of Honor is, but then turn around and constantly threaten to go back to Japan.
RICHARDS: I won't deny that you're a draw, Kevin, but in this ring I could end you. We'll do this right now.
[As the two ready themselves to fight, a ton of referees hit the ring to keep the men apart. There are dueling chants for both men.]
CORNETTE: Kevin, I've been protecting you from Davey, but if you both want this, fine, you have your match. You will fight for the Ring of Honor Championship in Toronto. Davey has told me that he even wants the piledriver to be legal in this match. But if I agree to that, both of you will sign a waiver, because I don't want to be legally liable when you two kill each other.
STEEN: Oh come on, Jim, what would I do? Sue you for a bunch of old Smokey Mountain tapes?
CORNETTE: One more thing - Steen, this is your one shot at the ROH Title, so you had better make it worth your while.
STEEN: Mark my words, I only need one shot.
Match 3: Roderick Strong (with Truth Martini) def. Adam Cole in 9:10. Roderick maintains control early in the match, but a flurry by Adam Cole draws Michael Elgin out at the 6 minute mark. Cole survives both Roderick's gut buster and his muay thai knee. He then pushes Cole into Michael Elgin. This distracts the referee enough to allow Martini to hit Cole in the head with the Book of Truth. Strong nails the double knee backbreaker for the win.
