LOOKING AT THE WIN/LOSS RECORDS OF THE WWE AND TNA ROSTERS: WEEK 16

NOTES FOR WEEK 16:
Welcome to Week 16 of Darren’s Win-Loss Records Column for the week of April 16
– April 22, 2012.
First a quick note, next week’s column will be delayed until Sunday after the 2nd
Pay-Per-View of WWE Extreme Rules. Also, after next week’s Raw on April 30, the
April Month In Review Column will be up. Now, here’s some news and notes for the
week.
On Raw, CM Punk and Mark Henry wrestled for the WWE Championship. This was the 3rd
time they wrestled in 3 weeks; making that the 1st
time that one match took place 3 weeks in a row. It was also a No
Disqualification, No Count Out Match, making it the 58th
Gimmick Match of the year and 25th
for WWE. Raw also gave us the 54 and 55th
Title Matches overall, 25th
and 26th
for WWE for the year, with the WWE & United States Championship Matches. The
United States Championship Match was the 3rd
time in March & April that Santino Marella wrestled David Otunga. Zack Ryder and
Kane wrestled to a No Contest, according to WWE.com, so therefore both men
received a draw in the column. This was the 2nd
time that they wrestled to a No Contest; the last time was a Falls Count
Anywhere Match back in January. This was the 1st
No Contest on Raw since March 26, when CM Punk faced off with Christian. The
Non-Title Tag Team Match with The Big Show & The Great Khali against Epico &
Primo was the 1st
time since February 27 that the Tag Champs wrestled on Raw, even though Primo
wrestled in a singles match in March against Big Show. The Extreme Rules Match
between John Cena and Lord Tensai was the 59th
Gimmick Match of the year, and 26th
for WWE.
On NXT, we had our 1st
back-to-back re-match, as Percy Watson & Johnny Curtis faced off for the 2nd
week in a row. This week was the 4th
time that Maxine & Kaitlyn wrestled each other, but they haven’t competed
against each other since Februrary, so it doesn’t count in my monthly re-match
section, since it wasn’t consecutive months. The Loser Gets Fired Match was a
regular singles match, so therefore it is not included in the Gimmick Match
section. The only thing of note on Superstars was a re-match between Kelly Kelly
& Eve Torres that joins the March/April Re-Match section of my Month in Review
Column. Like on NXT, R-Truth & Jack Swagger wrestled each other for the 2nd
time, but since they last competed back in Feburary, it doesn’t count.
On Impact, we had our 56th
Title Match of the year and 30th
for TNA with the TNA World Television Championship Match. As mentioned by Hulk
Hogan, we will be getting a TV Title Match every week. The 3-Way #1 Contender’s
Match was the 60th
Gimmick Match of the year and 28th
for TNA. This week also marked the return to Impact for both Rob Van Dam and
Brooke Tessmacher. This was Van Dam’s 1st
match on Impact since January and Tessmacher’s 1st
match since February.
On Smackdown, we had our 1st
ever NXT match to be re-matched on Smackdown, as Titus O’Neil & Darren Young
defeated The Usos. O’Neil & Young are now officially part of the Smackdown
roster, so that is what they will be listed as going further. Also, WWE moved
Alberto Del Rio to Smackdown, though Ricardo Rodriguez is listed as a Raw
talent. The Big Show wrestled twice this week, so he gets a win and a loss in
this week’s column. The Great Khali was supposed to be part of the match, but
since he was taken out of the match before it officially began, he is not
included in this week’s matches.
